Pushing the MU narrative on a national scale

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. The life of a national college basketball writer are filled with these moments throughout the season. You get blasted on social media for overlooking/not writing about Team X yet get sniped at for not writing at a deep enough level when you do. I bring this dilemma [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=painttouches.com&blog=28348875&post=9222&subd=painttouches&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" />

So, in order,
1. the national media doesn't 'get' MU.
2. DeWilson would have had a much better assist/TO ratio if there weren't so many fouls.   Many passes led to free throws.   The passer gets no credit on passes that lead to free throws.
3.   Jake Thomas wasn't that bad.

But just like the reality of Buzz's teams doesn't fit the national narrative, so too does DeWil and Thomas playing better than they got credit for fit the Scoop narrative, so I wouldn't expect many people to embrace those points.

Just lazy reporting, wouldn't you say?  No real effort to do the investigation necessary to write an in depth piece.

That Seth Davis prediction is shockingly bad... and I like Seth a lot.

It took a long time for me to 'get' Trent Lockett last year.   I expected one type of player and he was another and it frustrated me.   Paint touches did a nice job explaining what DeWil and Jake did well.

Saturday around 3PM we'll know how good or bad MU is.

I'll clue you in if you don't already know (chicos is one who doesn't)... lots of sports media people are journalism people first and many of them, even those with sports backgrounds, are unable to offer a lot of insight or good reads.

Not only that, but mainstream media must write for the lowest common denominator.. which is loooow. uw-madison people read mainstream media.

The "national" types say some of the most ridiculous and unfounded crap. If hindsight reviews were done by the masses, more people would realize that those whose words they heed are usually talking nonsense.

????

I think I have said here on a gazillion occasions how lazy many sports writers are and they don't do their homework.  Often having the SID write the stories for them, or the PR department of the pro team.

I guess I'm missing where you are coming from, because I largely agree with what you are saying but you seem to be saying I don't.   ?-(
