Have I been gone that long? What the f*** is the Eagle's Nest?
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

It's the name for the floor section next to the band.  Don't know when that became the vernacular.

.... or in the rest of the BMO Bradley.  I'm hoping that we end up with a Top 10 all time attendance mark although that may be tough to do this early in the season.
Yeah, the fringe fans will be watching college FB on the tube.

Here's MU's original 'I Believe' from the 2012 GTown classic.  Kudos to those that initiated the effort.  It was no small organizational undertaking. Some are still undergrads on campus today.

Cant believe that its already been almost two years since that game. Feel like freshman year was just yesterday.

In the long history of college basketball, there is still no finer cheer than the guy in the top row who would yell, "Give 'em hell, Al!" at the end of the National Anthem in a darkened Arena. Nothing expressed the zeitgeist better. Uniquely Marquette.

I guess our traditions are a compilation of other schools' traditions....

When are we going to do 'Rock, Chalk, Marquette?' I can hardly wait.

Yep, just like every other school in the nation. If you come up with something that will be uniquely Marquette, please share. I'm sure we would love to hear it.

Truly unique Marquette.  Those games at the Arena were also special as only the floor was lit so the stands were dark.  Made for great theatrical effect..

Beg to differ PTM.  The Eagle's Nest Superfans DO control most of the cheers.  I won't mention any of the guys/girls by name but the current and recently graduated crop have done a lot for the overall student section and everyone there knows it.  Moreover, those guys absolutely welcome and encourage newbie Freshmen.  It's not like the Eagle's Nest is reserved for upperclassmen although I do think that there are a few modest privileges granted.

To each their own, but if they control the cheers the student section would be one of the best in the nation.

Looks like the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence changed their lighting rig to look more like that for this season.

I thought something looked different. Only issue is that your not going to see this guy coming for you.

As a student for 4 years that actually cared about the product on the floor and not for jumping around like a dope or doing stupid chants the whole game I hated the Marquette cheer masters. Being able to watch the game without having to worry about that crap anymore is quite enjoyable IMO.

We're the only school in the entire nation - perhaps in the entire history of college basketball - to chant "automatic" during one of our own player's every FT attempt.  Does that count?

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Thank you Keefe!  Fantastic memory from the 1st golden age of MU hoops.  Made my day 1000% better.

I have a t-shirt that says that.  Bought it from some enterprising students at a tourney game in '76 or '77.  Royal blue with "Give 'em hell, Al!" in gold script.  One of my favorite MU souvenirs ever.

As an alumnus of that section, I strongly prefer our name: "Section 106".  And rather than Superfans, just "those kids that got here super early because they had nothing better to do".

Hey, I could be more productive by studying or doing homework but I choose to go to Marquette basketball games early because, one I dont wanna sit in the upper level with all the drunk kids and two I actually feel like the student section makes a difference.

Are you kidding? Participation is part of the experience. "Jumping around like a dope", getting loud, cheering your tail off - it's all in good fun and it adds to the home court advantage. Why not watch on tv if you're just going to sit there quietly?

Maybe a "Give 'em hell, Buzz!" is in order?

Please ignore most of the old guys complaining.  I, for one, am glad when the students do anything to make noise and sound like fans. when i was a senior we walked in at tip with beers and subs in our pockets and sat in the 12th row.

who cares if a cheer is copied.  most are.  We are Marquette is done by, i bet, 100s of colleges and high schools with 2 syllable names.

i do love this idea.  right at the end of the anthem, the whole student section yelled.  sweet.
