No doubt.

Additionally, everyone knows Stern rigged the lottery for the Bulls to get Rose at #1.

Yeah, Oliver Stone has a blockbuster set for a Christmas release on the conspiracy.

"Many," sure--Chicago is a large city. But the lion's share wanted Rose. No question.

Yeah it was just a story ginned up to generate interest.  Like when the Colts were supposedly seriously debating taking Ryan Leaf over Peyton Manning.

Part three of a trilogy.
Part I = Ewing to the Knicks
Part II = LeBron to the Cavs
Part III = Rose to the Bulls

(Part IV = Wiggins to the Raptors?)

I listened to a lot of sport's talk radio back then (another bad habit I've mostly kicked) and my recollection is that while most favored Rose (partly based on him being a local kid) there was also substantial support for Beasley. Maybe my recollection is wrong.

What about Jordan to baseball for gambling?

As a Bulls fan I was one of those people that really wanted Beasley instead of Rose. It was actually pretty up in the air with reports even on draft night that the Bulls would take Beasley.

Sans a knee injury, aren't you happy now?

Yea, to be fair to Beasley, the numbers he put up as a Frosh. were historic.

Now, teams who interviewed him and saw him in workouts should have seen through some of the numbers... but looking at the stats, it's hard to deny Beasley's greatness. Honestly, the guy was DOMINANT in college.

College              Year    GP    GS    MIN    SPG    BPG    RPG    APG    PPG    FG%    FT%    3P%
Kansas State    2007–08    33    33    31.5    1.3    1.6    12.4    1.2    26.2    .532    .774    .379

Some Chicago people were also worried about Derrick staying in Chicago.

I remember jumping up off my couch when the Bulls won the lottery because I was excited that the Bulls were going to get Beasley.

Wouldn't change anything about what actually happened, though.

If I remember correctly, coaches like these scrimmages because they can go as long as they want and work with the other coach to work whatever kind of specific scenarios into the scrimmage, right?

It's kind of hard to declare a "winner" in that case, right?

I'd agree with that. I haven't watched one, but I've read enough reports and talked to people at them and coaches can stop play pretty much whenever, move players where they want them to create or correct scenarios, repeat plays, it's not at all like an exhibition game. I also think coaches like that these go on behind closed doors, and even if reports leak out, there's no footage for anyone to work with.

What makes it even harder to win is that the NCAA forbids them from keeping score or running a real game clock.  The NCAA has yet to get control over internet rumor-trolling related to the scrimmages though, so I'll be the first to say we pounded Virginia for the second year in a row.

I haven't been able to find anything except for who Virginia's starting lineup was.
