Despite injury, Wilson should see time at point guard this season

Junior Cadougan won 97 games in his four seasons at Marquette. After tearing his Achilles tendon during his freshman season, Cadougan led the Golden Eagles to three straight Sweet 16 appearances, including an Elite Eight spot last year. He, along with Dominic James (for one season), Mo Acker and Dwight Buycks are the only consistent [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=painttouches.com&blog=28348875&post=9044&subd=painttouches&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" />

This article seems more like a punch in the gut than anything. If it is 8-12 weeks - ouch! I have no doubt MU will adapt and be just fine, in fact still probably very good, but losing Duane hurts.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Duane will likely red shirt.  We still have depth with Dawson and Mayo.

I truly believe Derrick will be outstanding.  The key for this team will be if Jamil chooses to start playing before the start of the second half.

The key for this team will be Derrick Wilson, now more than ever.

And I am more than a little worried about that.

Not worried one bit.

If he is going to miss over half the season, I hope he red shirts. I think Buzz learned his lesson from Junior. Don't burn a year of eligibility on a player so he can play 47 minutes as the backup to the backup to the backup point guard. Can you imagine what next year's team would look like if Junior was running the point?

Unlike Junior, Duane might actually have legitimate pro aspirations. He already probably thinks he'll be gone after three years or fewer. Will he really want to redshirt with the idea being that he'll be around for five years?

I'm guessing that Buzz would largely leave it up to Duane, just as he did Junior.

Oh, and if Duane really can be 100% healthy by January, there's no reason he shouldn't play.

I'm confused by the title of the article. There's no argument presented in the article that suggests Duane will get significant playing time after this injury.

Some of the Paint Touches writers are really all-in on Duane Wilson.  I tend to temper my thoughts about any freshman until they show me something otherwise.

Junior and Duane were similarly ranked coming out of high school. I'm not sure Duane's pro aspirations are any higher than junior's were
