FYI for those haven't heard (I didn't see it at all) Father Naus had a stroke a couple days ago and was moved into palliative care yesterday.  One of the greats at MU.

Damn.  Thanks for sharing.  One of my favorite profs and Jebbies.  Prayers up.

Father Naus is great.  I'm sorry to hear this.  When my dad passed away Sophomore year, I had a nice talk with Fr. Naus before flying home for the funeral, etc.  He gave me $20 and said it was for spending money.  He told me not to worry about paying him back but to remember to give back to Marquette when I could.  I'm been following that ever since.

Sorry to hear this. Prayers going up for Fr Naus.

What a great story.  Every time that I have seen him on campus he was chatting or conversing with a student.  I remember him eating dinner with a student at the Subway on campus and they were having a pretty detailed conversation about the student's future career ambitions.  I've also heard similar such stories about him.

Stories like these continually strengthen my belief that Fr. Naus is the embodiment cura personalis.  A very kind and gentle man who I hope finds peace through any affliction that he may be suffering.

Sometimes the part of the whole person that needs some cura is the part that could use a beer and a burger. Cool story, thanks for sharing.

He's playing a harp on a cloud tonight.  RIP Father Naus.

Enjoy the promotion Fr. Naus.  You touched generations of Marquette kids.  A life well spent.

Sad day for MU. I knew him since 1962 or so. Great Jesuit priest. RIP

I guarantee you, he is not playing a harp.  Fr. Naus is playing one of those paddleballs.....the kind where a rubber ball is attached to a wood paddle with a rubber band.

If you lived on 10th floor Schroeder, you are smiling now.

RIP.

Besides .. Al and maybe Fr. Raynor .. Fr. Naus had to be one of the most beloved Marquetters.

I was Schroeder 10N. John Naus was at once of this world, in this world, and above this world. He saw our foibles but more importantly recognized our potential and encouraged us in ways our naivete could not possibly discern. He shall be missed.

With heavy hearts we share the news of the passing of Father John E. Naus, S.J., a man who touched thousands of lives and brightened countless days at Marquette.

Tonight, we remember our dear friend: http://go.mu.edu/FatherNaus

Was it three or four generations of Marquette students touched by Father Naus's kindness, humor and good counsel? Special man who found something special in everyone he met.

Bummer of a day, my cousin lost her baby this morning and now Father Naus. RIP Father Naus.

Truth is, I almost never met Fr. Naus, and didn't know him at MU.

But about 20 years ago, I was ordering lunch at a place in Tosa .. I can't recall the specifics, but Fr. Naus started talking to me and got my name.

Two days later, I get a letter from him in the mail, nice meeting you, good luck in your ventures, etc.

Unreal.

I have lots of family who went to MU in the 1970s, and although the place has changed quite a bit since then, one of the things we have reminisced about (along with MU basketball) is Fr. Naus stories.
