Considering UW, but not MU. Hmmmm.....we probably gave up on him because we were looking to close on a switchable.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Looney is a switchable.  And we would have taken him in a second.  But he doesn't want to come here.

But you know all of that and are just trying to be a dick.  Are you going on haitus again anytime soon?

So, in your mind Kevon is an inside player--that figures.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Thank you for your low information name calling. When you cannot argue the facts thats what you resort to--pounding the table and denigration. I do not consider a 6'10" guy a switchable--you do. I am referring to the 6'3"  to 6'6" switchables. Speaking of things--stay classy, Skink. We all know that your opinions are the only ones that matter.

He is a prototypical switchable.  You don't understand what a switchable is.

All you do is look at height to determine what a player is and how he plays.  Looney is 6'8".  He is not a "big" by any stretch.  He plays outside, inside, etc.  He frankly would fit Buzz's offense perfectly.

Yeah. Same size as Jamil Wilson. So thank God we have Jamil Wilson to bang down low, since Davante is only truly 6'7" tops. Can't wait to watch Davante on the wing all year as a switchable.

So you took an ancillary argument that you were involved with, from another thread, and inserted it here. Where it wasn't needed, didn't bring anything to the table and almost assuredly will result in more arguing and sidetracking. And as smart as you appear - that's a compliment, ps - you knew all of that when you posted it. So thanks.

1)  There are a lot of people here that truly truly are incapable of understanding that players want to play for certain coaches, even if they are 65 years old...a grandpa....a guy who can't dance very well.  As 4ever stated, some people just can't believe it.

2)  Are you going to play Bobby Brady hall monitor for every thread where someone references something from a different thread?  You're going to be a busy man....or is your fauxrage going to be selective to one or two posters?

So thanks.

Wrong. I don't think anyone here (let alone "a lot of people") is "incapable of understanding" that players want to play for old coaches - especially if we're talking Coach K. He gets 5 star guys every year. Maybe Bo can land Looney and/or Stone. Anything's possible, but I'll bet no. How much would you like to wager?

You always talk about how you're stunned/annoyed/saddened by the hypocrisy of the board/some posters/whomever. You know what annoys me? When people, especially intelligent people who know exactly what they're doing, make these passive-aggressive posts bringing up other/unrelated/old topics just to try and stir the pot and start more arguments. If you can point out "hypocrisy" all the time, why am I not allowed to point out this?

Coach K--11 final fours and 4 titles..................Coach Ryan 0 final fours.  The only thing similar between these two is there age.

Save the D3 talk.  No one said Coach Cryin isnt a good coach--the problem Chicos is putting the two of these guys under the same umbrella when they are not even in the same universe.

I'm gonna try to be the voice of reason and set the record straight. Here are the facts. Don't ax me how I know them or question the accuracy. Suffice it to say, no one's source is better than mine.
As early as two years ago, both Kevon and his family felt he was "ready" to go away to school. This was well known. They never said " out of state." Buzz was involved. Kevon was invited to open gym, came to games, went to MM etc. Then, Buzz "quit coming around." Probably decided he wouldn't be able to convince him of the merits of staying in town and turned his attention to other recruits. And that's ok. I get that. Yet, from what is known, I feel, for several reasons, Buzz pulled the plug far too early on Kevon's recruitment. But's that's his business and not mine. As I've said before, this kid is a special talent, and, I believe, an even better person. Would have loved to see him in a Warriors' uniform.
At this point in time, Kevon says he doesn't have his mind made up and I believe him. That's the purpose in taking all his visits. His time table is to announce by the end of October. Here are some undeniable facts: Coach K made the best presentation when selling Duke. BTW, Coach K is talkin' starting minutes, not pine time. Bo has endeared himself to the entire family. He is funny and extremely charming. Both Kevon and Diamond Stone were in Madison at practice a couple of Sundays ago prior to the Badgers leaving for Canada. Bo has said if Kevon chooses Madison, "they'll cut the nets down." Indeed, a front court of Dekker, Looney, and Stone could make that possible.
His parents intend to attend as many of Kevon's college games as possible. They will travel and do what is necessary. Remember this is their youngest child and understandably, a tremendous source of pride. Florida and UCLA are farther to travel and the visits to those schools would have to be extraordinary to seal the deal. MSU is in play, but, I think to a lesser extent. Coach Martin at Tennessee has been in on Kevon for a long time and there is family in the area and his father played high school ball in the state. They too, are in play.
My take:
1. Duke
2. Wisconsin
3. UT
4. MSU
5. Florida
6.UCLA
But, anything could happen, so who knows.-----deal with it.

4ever - I'm a big fan of yours and have no doubt you're speaking the truth as Kevon now sees it. That said, the chance that Buzz would quit recruiting a local who is a good student, great player and nice kid because Kevon or someone in his family indicated he would be ok with the possibility of leaving Milwaukee for college doesn't make sense. Buzz is a bulldog and doesn't give up easily. Whether they're admitting it or not, somebody connected to Kevon told Buzz to stop wasting his time and Buzz believed him.

It's a little odd to me as well. Don't know any more about the particulars and at this point I've chosen not to press the issue; counter productive. Bottom line is Looney will be fine, MU will be fine.

The oddest part, and maybe indicative of the situation, is that Tom Diener left Hamilton and a real good chance of another state championship with Looney. Most hs coaches would trade their left one for that chance. Odd part of an odd situation.

I'm not doubting that you are closer to the situation than any of us, I just feel the recruitment is Duke and schools X, Y, and Z. But when you say you don't know why Buzz pulled the plug early, your own comments from a thread back in Janurary indicated Marquette didn't have a chance. No, you didn't say it verbatim, but you made it clear that Marquette was the longest of long shots and being local would be a bane and not a boon. A few months later, when asked if UW had a chance, you said that the family liked Bo but that once Duke offered it was "game, set, match."

Comments like that from someone admittedly close to the situation are why I have absolutely zero belief he will end up at Wisconsin and feel that Buzz was completely right to back off on this recruitment early, as he did with Tokoto, rather than committing resources to watching a kid he knew wouldn't be coming. Maybe he's changed his mind since earlier this year when you indicated on multiple occasions that the Duke offer was the one that effectively ended his recruitment.

If he ends up at UW, so be it. I have no fear of a Dekker/Looney/Stone combo because I don't believe they will ever all play together. I don't see Dekker ever being a senior at UW or Looney being a sophomore anywhere. But regardless, I put stock in Looney's past comments of wanting to play in an up-tempo system, the constant reminders we had from one poster that he wanted to go away to school, and the seemingly kismet fit that Duke is for Looney as a player in my belief that there is as good a chance he ends up at UW as he does at UIC.

We R Final Four

Here's the statline that may be even more important to Looney: In the past 30 years, Duke has had 25 first round draft picks, 18 of those in the lottery.
