The story on him is he has had a real good summer, Played on a under the Radar AAU team.  has good hands, Long arms, good timing on blocking shots, gets up and down the floor well for a 6-10 kid and from the pictures is probably just now growing into his Frame.

Big Kids with Good hands and nimble feet and good timing is all you really want to see in the college center's, that means they can really be taught and improve.  If they have bad hands, clumsy feet and bad timing they can only improve so much.

Davante has really good hands and feet and look how much he has improved and contributed at the college level as a borderline High Major recruit.

Who would be the last Center MU has signed that was rated higher coming out of high school?

I thought he looked very solid in the Video.  Blocked shots without fouling, seemed to be able to catch the ball in traffic, and transitioned from the Off end to the Def end fairly quickly.

Get him with MU's S&C coach for 16 months and he could be really good. The 12th best player in Texas is a borderline 4 star recruit.  they typically have 4 ***** and about another 6-8****.

Could not agree more.  Large talent pool in Texas.  People see 1 picture and the star rating and quickly comes to the conclusion he's not good enough for us - despite the fact that Buzz is recruiting him. "He's Roseboro....He's Mbao."  I don't think so.

After watching some of the videos of him, he has great hands and good footwork.  Could it improve?  Of course it can, but he's got a really nice drop step and really knows how to seal the defender and cover ground with it.  High release on his jumpshot and can hook with both hands.  He's very long and can replace O'Tule as a serviceable defensive anchor in the middle.  The guy averaged 5+BPG (I'll have to find the link to that).

Hey all I did was offer an opinion for every post on a potential recruit or committed recruit there's dozens of mostly negative posts.  I said I wouldn't mind him committing because I trust Buzz.  I just also stated my guy feeling.

Ok whatever. I don't really see any serious attacks on the kid. Seemed a little self righteous post to me.

as far as myself, I was simply answering 4evers question. I rarely comment on recruits good or bad, the coaches would know what they want better than any poster on MU Scoop. Besides you never know what you have until he starts playing.

Not saying that I don't want this kid to commit but I feel he's more in the Roseboro, Mbao, McMorrow family than the Ousmane Barro, Otule, McIlvine family.

Jim McIlvaine is at least one family group up from Barro and Otule.  I put Jimmy Mac around the bottom of the group of Marquette centers who were NBA first round picks.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

None of us know a thing about this kid. Watching a few video clips is meaningless.

If Buzz really offered him, and the other programs listed did, too, I don't see why we wouldn't want a tall drink o' water with some talent and lots of upside.

If he doesn't work out, he doesn't work out. Welcome to recruiting. If he does work out, we're a better team for several years.

My second time watching Ben Lammers this week. Big body, finishes well around the basket, doesn't mind contact, good rebounder. Big 12.

Plently of interest in S. Texas Spurs and Florida Elite. Texas big men Ben Lammers and David Wacker both intriguing. #Super64

Whatever happened to "In Buzz We Trust"???

If the coaching staff goes to watch him play, he's worth a look.
If Buzz is recruiting him, he's worth the time.
If Buzz offers him a scholarship, he's worth the consideration.
If Buzz gets him on campus, he has to be a Warrior.

No stars, stats, or commentary will convince me otherwise.

We've seen that star ratings are helpful, but as with our current bigs, don't tell the whole story. In the past 4 months, Myles Turner has gone from "who" to top-100 to top-25 to top-10 to arguably the best big in the 2014 class. Who's to say that Lammers couldn't do the same? Buzz saw it in McGary, Embiid, and Turner, but they all blew up a little too soon for us to land them. Maybe this kid is next. Considering our need for a big next year, I'd be happy to see Lammers come in and get a shot. Best case scenario, he's an athletic rebounder that can contribute on both ends from day one. Worst case scenario, he's the second coming of Mbao. And how much did having Yous here hurt the long term prospects of the program under Buzz? Not a damn bit.

Could recruiting this kid be a sign that Buzz and the staff are feeling less confident about being able to sign Stone and figure they've got to get a center?  If Ben were to accept during his visit have we lost the chance to get Stone?  It seemed like signing D Wilson that we had a real shot at Stone and he could have been the missing piece.

To answer your question, no.  First of all, they're different classes.  Buzz has said he wants one center and one point guard in each class.  If we get Lammers, he is the center for the recruiting class of 2014.  Stone could still definitely be the center for the recruiting class of 2015.  Second of all, we need a center for the 2014-2015 season, as we will have none on the roster without Lammers.  Third of all, if Stone is afraid of a little competition, especially from a guy who is not in the top 100 nationally and is a 2.5 star recruit, then he doesn't have the mental makeup to be a high major player.  If he's going to go to Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, or North Carolina, he's going to face much stiffer competition for playing time than Ben Lammers (not a slam on Lammers).  If he's scared of competition like Lammers, then he shouldn't be ranked in the top 10 in the country, shouldn't be a 5 star recruit, and will never see the NBA.  He should go to South Dakota State and dominate the 6'6" posts he'll play against.

77ncaachamps

Lammers looks like a Cole Aldrich in the making.

He's going to have to bulk up for the bruising on the block, keep the energy and fitness up for going baseline to baseline, and develop more of a frontcourt gameas he will probably play tat at the next level.

The intent could be to have a center for Stone to go against during practice and someone who can help teach stone our system from a center's standpoint.

Wades covered most of this regarding Stone, but what this is more likely a sign of is that the ship has sailed on Turner and Okonoboh. Not really a surprise.

In my opinion this would increase the chance of getting Stone. Stone is higher rated so he should not be afraid of MU signing another center. However, he would be crazy to go to MU, if he was the only big body on the team. To improve you need to pratice against other big people. Besides that how many minutes does a center realistically play in a game? I would say an average of 28 minutes a game for a starting center would be a lot, so there are plenty of minutes for two centers.
