I'm curious how the league is "fledgling" without ever having played a game.

I can't blame him for taking the job and I'm not going to lose sleep over this one, but I really wish he would have stayed at Butler.  It just feels like another small market sports star following the big paycheck.  Even if he had to leave I would have preferred that he stay in the college game.  Wouldn't be surprised if he comes back to college at some point.  Maybe he's the next Pitino or Calipari.

Calipari & Pitino were hired with nearly total control and very little support system.  Stevens is brought in to be a vital pieces of an experienced team.  The ownership, the GM and the player personnel in Boston have all tasted success and know how to get back there.  Brad Stevens will be asked to impart his expertise of coaching, game management etc.  He was not handed the keys, he is lucky enough to have plenty of good people around him.

Furthermore, I don't see him as small market to big, I see him as taking on another challenge.  The Celtics are an iconic brand and play in the sports greatest league.  Why wouldn't he, as a competitor, want that?

Everyone bashes the NBA and see only the Bobcats and Bucks when they think of the league.  But look who wins; talented teams filled with disciplined players who want to learn, want to succeed and want to be coached.

You paid attention to their moves this offseason?  C's are basically blowin' it up and rebuilding with youth

Yes, and with a plan.  You really think the C's the will be down for long?  A very committed ownership group in a town that expects excellence.

Don't doubt they'll get there, just saying they're not there yet.  You spoke about player personnel in the present tense.

The Lens

I meant their player personnel department; scouting, analytics (a big driver for Stevens) etc.

As they should...major free agency haul available after next year and the year after.  Can get good very quickly.

Not to mention the best draft in many years

Let's hope the C's have better luck than they did with Bias or Duncan.

Makes sense, there I agree.  Could be a bit rough for a year or two (or three), but will likely be worth it.

Was just about to post the exact same thing. I love how everyone is taking every word used to describe the NBE as a derogatory attack.
