ESPN put out a nice recruiting piece per conference today. In the Big East segment they said that we are recruiting Ahmed Hill. Does any know know much about his recruitment? ESPN has him ranked at 33.

MuMark

We have been on him for a long time.....has been on a bit of a slide in the rankings but still a top 60 kid by most accounts. Has said he plans to visit MU in recent interviews.

For those more in the know than myself...   if we get a commitment from Sandy Cohen, would MU still hope to get Ahmed?  Or would Buzz be focused on a big and a PG for the last two schollies?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

MUfan12

MU seems to be in decent shape with him.

I think they'd take both. Cohen is pretty versatile and can create some mismatches.

I think we would be fine at Point with 2 freshmen PGs this year. I know we are extremely excited about Wilson but I think we can expect 3 years from him unless we do something amazing in the turning. I say take the best players you can get unless the cupboard is bare, which is the case for big-men.

Litehouse

Besides possibly Cohen, who looks more like a combo-guard, I don't see a need to take a PG in 2014, but that's just my opinion.  In '14-'15 we'll have De. Wilson as a Senior, Du. Wilson and Dawson as Sophomores, and Noskowiak coming in 2015.  We need someone bigger than Steve Taylor with at least one of those spots.

I agree with this and Cohen can also play point. Buzz has said he would like to recruit a point guard every year and my guess is that Cohen fills this criteria.

Jay Bee

Different players, but see both as guards/wings.

How dare you say we need a big. Don't you read this board? If we have 5 rebounding switchables, we will be fine.

I don't think Litehouse is going over the top, getting upset over recruiting a top 75 prospect and saying we NEED lots of big men, one of which needs to be a Top 5 recruit. He's suggesting 1 big man out of a class of 4, which is realistic.

24/7 sports is now predicting that Ahmed Hill will go to UConn.

24/7 sports is now predicting that Ahmed Hill will go to UConn.

One recruiting expert, William Gunter, predicted Connecticut.  After some UConn fans asked him about it on twitter, Gunter said he got some bad info because Ahmed Hill told him UConn isn't recruiting him at this time.

Hmm...maybe I should predict Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones to Marquette   ;D

24/7's site still indicates that Gunter is predicting UConn with a date of August 1st for the prediction, evidently they haven't got around to updating.  Thanks for the update.

We don't need Tyrus Jones, he's not a big.

Gunter also said he can't just remove his prediction.  Since he already chose a team, the site will only let him change the team.  Therefore, he's gathering more info.

If you look at what the majority predict for a player at 247, I've found it to be more right than wrong.  I think it's a great feature.

Gunter needs more pull at 247.  Whoever predicted Paul White to Arizona at 247 has been able to have that prediction deleted.

He changed his prediction to Florida State earlier tonight

Ellenson Guerrero

We now know we are in his final 5: https://twitter.com/nextuprecruits/status/372500599562317824

Would be a great get and be a nice player to add to the stable of guard switchables.

Some tough competition, but great too see.  Hill would take the '14 class to another level and make two awesome classes back to back.

Likely because XRM is academically ineligible and Hamilton is upping his recruitment.

Looking at his top 5, he would be challenged for playing time no matter where he went.

Marquette: Behind Mayo (1 year) and JJJ (3 years)
Florida: Behind Frazier II (2 years) and Francis (4 years)
Florida State: Behind Thomas and Brandon (2 years) and Rathan-Mayes (4 years if he becomes eligible)
Indiana: Behind Robinson (3 years) and they are in the lead for Issiah Whitehead and James Blackmon Jr (higher rated SGs in his class)
Missouri: Behind Brown and Clarkson (1 year) and they are in the final 5 for Devin Booker (higher rated SG in his class

Playing time isn't the only factor but I would put Marquette, Florida State, and Missouri in the lead. Florida already has two higher rated guards in their 2014 class and Indiana will get either Whitehead or Blackmon Jr. If Mizzou grabs Booker, that leaves us and FSU.

I saw someone predicted FSU in another article, that's not a bad guess. Here's hoping Buzz can sell him on our recent success (Lockett anybody?). Him and Blammers would wrap up quite a nice recruiting haul for 2014.
