Losing in the round of 16 as a #4seed is not overachieving, it's playing to your seed. In TC's career, he's made the tourney 7 times in 14 seasons. He's overachieved once (03), underachieved 4 times and played to his seed twice. 1-4-2 qualifies as less than stellar. Buzz, OTOH, is 3-1-1.

Even more important is that Buzz is a nicer human being. But I agree we are better off with him than that other gent.

They were going up against Kentucky two years ago, the overall #1 seed and a team that won the national title.  We all know there are #1 seeds like Kentucky and there are joke #1 seeds like Gonzaga.  It matters. 

Just as we know there are #14 seeds that shouldn't be 14 seeds (like Davidson) or 12 seeds like Tulsa.  But if you wish to play that game, that's fine....of course you probably should include things like McNeal's injury in one of those games.  I also don't agree with you on the 8 vs 9 seed...it's a neutral seed where the only difference is one wears a lighter color uniform, but the winner plays the 1 seed regardless.  Or as Doug Elgin once told me (he was the chair of the Selection committee) there is basically zero difference between and 8 and a 9.  They are considered the same.  To each their own.

I'm glad TC hired Buzz.  I'm glad TC got us to the Final Four.  I hope Buzz can do it, too.

Hope they're happy in Bloomington with last season's preseason #1 team and the consensus choice to win the National Championship.
