Of the five in this picture ....

Duane Wilson - MU bound
Jamaar McKay - Brother of MU recruit Jaymeel McKay
Kevon Looney - MU target
Diamond Stone - MU target

So where is Deonte Burton?

Burton was 2nd Team.

Is Jameel's brother going anywhere next year to play? I haven't seen anything about him as far as colleges are concerned.

Let's hope it's JUCO or prep then Marquette

Well, then there's that
If they have to play some zone, so be it. Syracuse has done pretty well with it. And please do not say that Syracuse plays zone because of their length. I believe we will have plenty of length: Otule, J. Wilson, JJJ, McKay, Blue, Du. Wilson, Taylor, etc.

Have not seen this fellow play, but by most accounts, he is a stud, and we need the 3 point shooting. He must start.

This would be my starting line-up/depth chart next year, assuming Blue comes back
PG: Du. Wilson/De. Wilson/Dawson
2G: Blue/JJJ/Mayo
C: Otule/Gardner/McKay
PF: Gardner/Taylor/Mckay
WF: J.Wilson/Burton/Anderson

I know, I know, people will holler that Gardner cannot play PF, but IMO we need Gardner playing minimum of 25 to 30 minutes per game--his offense and FT shooting are very important

Du. Wilson also must start 39 points in the Elite 8 game shows we need more offense, which is why Du. Wilson and Gardner must play a lot. How Buzz keeps all these guys happy with minutes will be a challenge, indeed. Guys like Taylor and McKay, as well as Anderson and Burton will want more time.

More like this:

Point Guard: Derrick/Vander/Duane/Dawson
2-4 (top 3 "start", the rest listed by minutes): Vander, Jamil, Juan, Taylor, McKay, JJJ, Duane, Todd, Burton
Center: Otule/Gardner

I have Burton as seeing the 2nd least amount of minutes on the team next year.  My lord could this team be deep/talented.  Burton will be a stud someday, but I have a feeling he will take a year or 2 to really develop (it seems like he is dominant in high school because he is just more physical than everyone, which won't be the case in high level division 1 basketball.  Once he develops a consistent jumper, look out).

And we could be LOOOONG!  Just think, a few years ago we were going with lineups of Acker (5'8", generously), Cubillan (6', generously), DJO (6'2"), Butler (6'6"), Hayward (6'6").  Next year we could legitimately see a lineup of Blue (6'4"), JJJ (6'5"), Wilson (6'7"), McKay (6'8"), OTule (6'10").

Should be a fun ride.

I haven't heard anything either. He's had nice showings both in the high school and AAU showings, so I would have though he would have some offers. He's in some high company in this picture, all other 4 will be going to high majors. Would have thought he would at least have had some offers from some mid-majors. Maybe the sites just haven't updated his recruiting info.

Ellenson Guerrero

I think Jamaar is more a Horizon League type prospect. He doesn't have the height of his brother, doesn't have elite athleticism, his handle is pretty average, and his shot takes some time to get off. Five years ago I would have supported MU giving him a shot because he does have a scorer's instinct, but MU can reel in bigger fish at this point.

For the life of me I can't understand why Looney and Stone would not want to come to Marquette.  I understand that it's hard to turn down the elite programs, but with the group Marquette already has they could be part of something extremely special.  Just imagine the possibility of all these local players coming together to play on a top 5 team at the local university.  They would be legends forever.  Imagine it's 2015-2016 and you have a core of the following:

Stone - Fr
Looney - So
Dawson - Jr
JJJ - Jr
Du. Wilson - Jr
Burton - Jr
Taylor Jr - Sr

And that is only half the roster!  Who knows what else Buzz will add by that point.  It just makes too much sense.

You can't understand because your selfish! This is every Marquette fans dream. However, there are better places to go than Marquette or being stuck in Milwaukee. That's just the reality of it.

Looney and Stone will consider National exposure, better education, and greater opportunities elsewhere. It would be unrealistic to expect them to take the hometown discount, so that they could play with each other for something special. It would just be a Milwaukee/Wisconsin story for the most part. It would be like the Fab 5 Hype or what UK has going on next year.

I really hope Buzz lands these two. I will go even further and say that I would love for us to consistently get the top Chicago recruits too. Could you imagine getting a Jahill Oakafor, Jabari Parker, Quincy Miller, etc. on a consistent basis? However, thats just not the reality of it.

Before Looney steps on campus, Otule and Gardner will have graduated.  During his formative years he's seen guys his height (and somewhat shorter) play center for MU, like Maymon, Lazar and Jae.  He wants to play on the perimeter in college.  So, if I was Kevon, I wouldn't look at Marquette until Buzz gets a commitment from at least one and preferably two bigs in the 2014 class.

Some people just don't want to stay "home" for college. As somebody who traveled 1,000 miles to go to MU sight-unseen, it's hard for me to criticize anybody who wants to experience a different part of the country. The fact that there is great basketball in those different places is just a bonus to them.

Selfishly, I hope the guys stay but I don't blame any kid for wanting to leave home.

I like how we not only refuse to look at a player's side when making a college decision, we also assumes he wants to stay for 2 years on a rebuilding team.

Sunbelt15

With all these top recruits coming in, MU or should I say Buzz may have a problem. How will he spread those minutes? Who will ride the bench? Everyone coming in is expected to contribute. No unknowns like Ferguson.

I traveled only 68 miles to go to MU, but the first time I ever set foot on campus was when my parents dropped me off in front of Schroeder Hall. Looking back, more than a little bizarre.

Tourney team yes, but not a top 20 team like we have this year and next. You really think DW, JJJ, DB as sophomores really are a threat to go deep in the tourney?

Again, we are competing with Duke, NC, and KY. I'm sure Looney is planning on the 1 and out route and if I was him I take the best chance of getting that championship before going pro.

Boy, I must have been the indulgent parent.  When my daughter was looking for a school we made 3 trips to University of Illinois, 2 trips to Augustana, 1 trip to Miami of Ohio, 1 trip to Winona St in Minnesota, and 3 trips to MU.  Fortunately daughter #2 accompanied us on those trips, so it wasn't hard for her sister to convince her to attend MU as well.
