Here are some highlights from his sophmore season at Indian Hills Community College.

Looks very active around the hoop and appears to have a decent touch from outside. Looks devastating in the fast break as well. Obviously doesn't have the largest frame, but seems to make up for that lack of strength with excellent positioning and activity. Excited to have him in our frontcourt next year!

He is closer to a small forward then a center!  He is long, Wilson and McKay will be a nice tandem.  Steve Taylor will have his work cut out again, not sure about Juan.

Obviously needs to put on a couple pounds but still very impressed with his finishing around the basket. Very quick two handed dunks. Should be a valuable asset to our transition game. Very excited to see him play next year!

Anyone know how many 3's McKay hit this season or what his percentage is from beyond the stripe? If he can hit from there around 35% he could really open up our offense next year with what could be a potent inside-outside game. Can't wait to see him in action next year.

I was surprised to see that he isn't a good 3 pt shooter, only attempted 4 this season and missed them all. Don't think we'll get much out of him in that area, so I think they'll use him at the 4 and occasionally 5 as a post threat. Only shot about 57 percent from the line too.

Edit: From the video it looks like he might've made a three or two. Not a bad shooting stroke at all. Maybe the stats are wrong? Some hard work in the gym should help his outside shooting be more consistent.

Yeah, that was why I asked about his 3 point shooting skills. I think he'll help a lot in the paint, just was intrigued by seeing what I saw were a couple 3's.

MU will play a lot of small ball next year if CO does not come back and even more in 2014.

I hope more "bigs" are on their way.   Only Mckay and Taylor will be on the team in 2014 and both seem better suited to the 4 position.  Leaving MU with no true 5 with experience.

He seems to have a decent shot from 15 feet ish, obviously with no defenders its much easier to put them in. But it at least shows that he has a decent touch and something he can improve on.

I'm going to assume sarcasm because the JUCO's Buzz has brought in are Joe Fulce, Jimmy Butler, Dwight Buycks, Darius Johnson-Odom, Jae Crowder, T.J. Taylor, and Jameel McKay.  So of the six before McKay, I don't think there's any argument he hit gold on Butler, DJO, and Crowder.  Buycks was still a pretty big contributor while Fulce had injury problems and Taylor left before we even got to know him.  Unless he gets injured or leaves before the season starts, I'm going to assume he will have an impact the next two years.

Yeah but do you have to have a face logo? That is where it gets dicey. Look, I dont care either way...Warriors is Warriors to me. But that guy with the helmet on might be 'offensive' to some...

  Nice jump shot...I know it is in an empty gym with no one on him but so what! It is the form and the technicality of the jump shot I am looking at and there are many cats who do not even have that.

There is nothing broke about his shot. Nice footwork and squares up clean and has a semi high release and and great follow through and elevation. Has a little bounce too and a good enough handle.   

You don't see a fadeaway jumper too much anymore but he seems to be a guy who can stretch out his shot to 20-25 feet easily and hit it with consistency.

Right now Jameel looks like he is the best shooter on this team just by looking at the video which is somewhat disturbing and remarkable they got as far as they did get.

The young man working out with him was not bad either...where does he play next year? But very nice shot...

Decent is an understatement...it looks pretty good. And the more shots he gets up and the stronget they make him here at MU the better that shot will be.

I worry about his stamina and strength playing in the Big East and for Buzz but that is something as a junior next year he can grow into. MU is not Indian Hills...it is a big step up.

Looks like he has a good inside and outside game and can face up without fear and knock down a big shot. Very smooth...his shot is a good as Jamil's and Steve Taylor right now.

Practices will be a thing to see next year between those 3...wow.

No...the college 3 should be NO PROBLEM AT ALL for this kid. I can tell by his release. And once they get him in the weight room here his legs will be even stronger.

All I have to seen is the form... once you see that he can get elevation on the ball and how it hits the rim and the follow through and how the legs go up and come down that is all I have to see.

He seems under control and understands his body better and has big enough hands that he can get a grip on it and let it loft, roll off the fingertips and snap with the wrist...long fingers are key.

Jamil, Steve and Jameel are the same in that regard.

That is alarming...if not unsettling. Big time red flag for Buzz I bet.

Only 90 makes out of 160 attempts is not good. As much as MU gets to the line and values that aspect of their game Jameel had better work on that big time.

He boards well which in and of itself will get him some minutes, but he must shoot better from the line for a BIG at this level.

No there you go right there....Juan will play because Juan is like Lockett in that Juan can guard. Plain and simple.

Steve Taylor will be a beast someday soon...Buzz can trot both of those guys out on the second unit and be just fine depending upon what he gets from JuJuan.

This team will be a delight for him to coach I am telling you that right now. It would be a delight for me if I could coach them so I know he is jacked up to get started to do that.

And if they buy in like this year's team did...look out. The Big East is not the only thing they can contend for.

The best thing about this is his motor, seems to be always moving. The easy baskets may not be there in the Big East, but with a motor like that he'll get tons of offensive rebounds and putbacks. Also love how easy dunking looks to him, and how he seems to be magnetically attracted to the basket. Again, won't be as easy next year, but gotta love a guy who gets the ball into the rim so quickly, sometimes seems like we have a little too much "finesse" around the basket.

I never know what to think with these highlight videos. Yes he looks good, but they are not going to put together a highlight reel with plays on it that make him look bad. Still I like what I see of his skill set. Maybe some time in the weight room will help him.

What I like it looks like he is a quick jumper. We have lacked inside guys that were quick off their feet and he looks like he gets up fast. He and Jamil should be able to create some excitement on both ends of the court. Lineup with him, Jamil and Taylor together would be athletic frontline.
