We have seen the last of Junior Cadougan. He's been Buzz's favorite and has been a somewhat polarizing figure. I can't think of another MU player thatr I've been so ambivalent about. He had limitations (like not going left), he had great moments when he showed his toughness. He was a gritty SOB. I guess when I think about Junior, I'm going to picture the end of the UConn game.

I think Scott Merritt comes close to generating the same feelings generally.

Can disagree with you.  And actually shocked that his late 3pt shot didn't fall today (it was about the 4th best looking 3 of the day...).

Usually when nobody else was doing it, Jr. would step up and pull out some heroics.  He ran the show, and led Marquette to 2 sweet 16's and 1 elite 8 the years he was starting.  Thanks Junior!

jimmybutlerfanatic

Loved you and hated you. Should've red-shirted that injured year! I don't care what you say about getting the team to the NCAA that year as to why you came back. One more year with the incoming class would've been Final Four maybe National Championship for you.

77ncaachamps

Junior battled through everything and became a true Warrior in his four years.
Relentless to the rim, he never really developed a mid- or long-range game.
Came back from an injury to even more MU success in the BE.
Hard to say he's not one of the top PGs MU has ever had based on his team's overall records and post-season success.

Adieu and merci for your time, talent, and toughness!

Appreciate his efforts for program. Appreciate more that he did NOT redshirt. Wish him nothing but good luck down the road.

Badgerhater

Thanks, Junior.  PG on the best three year run for MU since the 70s.  Good luck with what comes next

forgetful

Thank you Junior!  You were actually one of my favorites, because of your heart and dedication and willingness to do anything for your teammates.

I don't know. If Buzz wanted him to redshirt than I think he should have done so. Would be a nice asset to have next season.

Junior made the call on redshirt and respect his decision. He wanted fours to play four years. He played to his ability and nothing more can be asked from a player.

Blackhat

Thanks Junior, it's been a fun ride man.

Wally Schroeder

Junior, you gave me fits, you made me yell, and you made me cheer like hell with that 3 pointer against UCONN.

Best of luck!

Junior was an absolute winner. Unfortunately, only 4-5 players go out winners in their last NCAA game. Congrats to an absolute unsung hero and a player I'm sure we'll miss next year.

BCHoopster

Junior won a lot of games at MU, three post season teams to the Sweet 16 and better, hard to believe.  Even today he refused to take open shoots, great career.  Now it is time
for Dawson and Wilson, Derrick will be used like this year. Hopefully, Junior can go to Europe and make some money.

macman320

He's a guy who epitomized Buzz's work ethic and heart. He played hard, never faked injuries, and played his heart out. Thanks for a good run.

Eldon

The UCONN game/shot redeems any poor game, bad shots, turnovers or fouls that he has ever committed.  Thanks for the memories.

CTWarrior

Am I the only one who thinks he's going to end up as a coach?

Favorite memory of Junior is his willing us to a win against West Virginia in the BET out of the blue his sophomore year, cementing our NCAA tournament birth and getting the Sweet 16 roll started.  I remember thinking, "Where has THAT guy been?"
Calvin:  I'm a genius.  But I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

Whatever he does in life, I am convinced his values and character will supply whatever he needs to be successful.   Coaching under Buzz would be absolutely awesome.  Thank you Junior...god bless you and your family!

One of the best passers at times in the transition game, but bad body that just couldn't overcome the athletic shortcomings. Good kid, great attitude, smart basketball player, just limited. Great, great career, and nothing bad to say about your time here. Good luck, young man.

SWARM!

Oh, and obviously a bad shooter. Did the best he could without athletic ability and range.  Wish we had you for one more.

ATL MU Warrior

Thank you Junior for leading this team to heights not many of us could have ever hoped for.

It will be strange and sad not seeing you on the court next year.

You did Marquette proud.

Rockmic87

Still can't believe he was able to walk away from that collision with Fair! That was horrific!

Retire54

Great work junior you were the point for the majority of my time as an MU fan and you absolutely epitomized work and faith. I knew you had it in you to win 7 NCAA wins and you should know we all appreciate your efforts. Best of luck going forward

In their 4 years, Cadougan and Otule won more games (97) than any class since the class of '79 (98).
