That very may well have been the worst last play of a half in Marquette history: Junior dribbles for 7 seconds, Thomas throws up a (terrible) three from 5 feet behind the line.

There have been a half dozen this year just as bad.   End of the half plays are not our specialty.

Let's hope Jamil and Vander can work their magic in the second half.

Did you see the Syracuse IU game the other night...they raped Zeller about 10 times....Syracuse gets away with a ton.  Part of their strategy.  Louisville is the same.  Play rough, if the refs don't call it then advantage them.

Please go somewhere else to talk about Indiana. They were routed from the start, never in the game and had no chance from the get go. Whine about it on the Hoosier board if you feel the need.

Ugh with Mayo's bad shots.  We can do this considering how bad we struggled most of the half and still only down six.  Need a typical Jamil second half, and Vander and Trent to step up...remember they rode pine most of the second half in the first game so hopefully they're overdue to figure it out.

Anyone asking for Mayo out of the game doesn't understand basketball. If you watched the game you would have noticed how we went on our run with Mayo in the game because he was by far our best player at getting the ball to Davante at the high post. Considering Davante at the high post is by four our best offense, Mayo in the game is also our best offense.

LJBurton

Not sure what junior was doing there.  That was an awful sequence to end the half.

LloydMooresLegs

The team has adjusted.  Took Syracuse best shot- they must be a little surprised that MU didn't fold like IU.  Here we go.  Game on.

nyg

MU is 7 for 26 (26%)
1 for 9 from three
3 for 6 freethrows
8 turnovers
Rebounds 21-15 MU favor

J. Wilson 1 point, 0 for 4
Mayo 0 point       0 for 4
Lockett 0 point     0 for 3
D> Wilson 0 point 0 for 2

Last five possessions was the key.  They were just brutal.

Very lucky guys, Buzz will reem them big time.

netty24

Being down six with lockett and jamil out most of the last eight minutes, not bad. Our shots will fall more frequently in the second half. Just got to contain MCW and we should be alright.

This.

Marquette will win.  When a few of our shots drop we will win.

We dodged a bullet. It could and should have been bigger hole to dig out of at half. First five minutes of second will make or break the game. Every offensive possession is key to start the half. Game is still anyone's to win. Hope same holds true in about twenty minutes.

I guess than I don't understand basketball.  Getting a 3 point shot blocked in your face....throwing up some crap from the baseline is part of the game and is overcome by him feeding OX?    Mayo was good on the boards and played solid d....I saw that clearly

Let me restate....did you see Syracuse against their first three opponents or in most of their games this year?  They play very rough, as is their strategy.  If the refs don't call it, they will continue to play that way.

Better?  I wouldn't want that grain of sand to continue to rub you in your sensitive part.

Hold the Mayo bashing. We very well might need him to come up big second half. My gut says that he is not going to let bad play affect his decision making. That trait might work in his benefit in the second half.

Take away 6 of Ox's points with mayo not in the game. 24-12 sound better? You get some TO's with Mayo, sure, it happens, but that's not nearly enough to take away his positives (rebounding, defense and feeding the paint).

Lighthouse 84

We're lucky to be only 6 down.  Lets get Jamil and Trent going.

Todd was one of my favorite players last year, but this year he just seems lost.  He had games last year where he was the best player on they floor.  This year....  sad.

I'm curious...seriously curious....since it is halftime I can bring up a nongame question.  Anyone who was at the game the other night know if MU fans were rooting for IU or SU?   Looked like IU fans were benign Marquette (watched the replay again).   Did MU fans boo Crean?     I was at the games last week in KC and the KU fans booed Roy mercilessly...just curious on the atmosphere.
