When do they vote? Does Buzz have a chance?

brewcity77

How could anyone justify him winning over Larranaga?

No. Because Enfield has a hot wife.

I made a post about this last week.

The Naismith coach of the year finalists were announced the day before the Tourney and were: Mark Few gonzaga, Jt3 georgetown, Jim Larranaga miami, and Crews of slu.  The winner is chosen on next Saturday of the final four.

What a miss by the ncaa to determine how this is done.  I mentioned last week it should be after the first weekend to get a better pool.

Bummer because Buzz would be the shoe-in now.

Criminal if Larranaga gets it. I am thinking he is the front runner, too. Pathetic award.

Yeah, Larranaga will get it no doubt.  Hopefully that will be completely out of our minds as we prepare for a final four appearance with Florida/KU/Michigan.

Agree. I don't think I've ever seen a coach schooled worse in the tournament than Larranaga was last night. JT III (FGCU, Ohio U, etc) and TC (Syracuse, MSU, Kansas) are runners-up.

Larranaga is an excellent coach who had a great year. It's coach of the year, not coach of the one game.
Buzz also would be a deserving recipient.

How many of those players are Larranaga's?  Didn't Haith recruit most exceptbLarkin?  I think that should be considered.

Try Crean in '08.

Tom Crean was down by 29 at the half, 33 at the end of the game when Kansas let their foot off the peddle with 20 minutes to go in the game.  Marquette had 3 future NBA players, Miami might have 2, and was missing their best defensive player on a shallow team.  Crean was schooled 10x worse than Larranaga was last night.  Not even close.

(But Buzz sure did school Larranaga)

All true. Difference for me was were totally lost as an underdog in 2003 while Miami was totally lost as a solid favorite.

He did recruit the best player.
At worse, he took a group who largely underachieved under the previous coach and turned them into one of the best team's in the country. Something to be said for that, right?
Larranaga should be judged by last night no more than Buzz should be judged by the Big East tournament game.

I agree it's not one game. But ion the one head-to-head match up Buzz drilled Larranaga. And Buzz year is still going strong. Larranaga's year is already over.
