Nice! Hopefully he'll get to play with 6 games in 10 days, including 2 vs Wes.

Oh wait, you said 10 days. I thought you said 1 day! Never mind.

SALT LAKE CITY (March 27, 2013) – The Utah Jazz announced today that...

McNeal, whose first name is pronounced Jah-rell.....

Jah-rell?  I always pronounced it Jerr-rell. Emphases on Er not Ah. Am I wrong? Mormon accent?

I've always said it as "Juh-RELL" emphasis on the second syllable

Congrats Rel!  Make the most of the burn and hope you replicate Mr. Matthews Utah stay....

Saw him play @ LA D-League game earlier this year, announcer called him McNabb all game so I don't think he cares as long as his check has an NBA owners name on it

Great news for jerel.  He was one of my favorites.  Good quote from the salt lake tribune:

McNeal played at Marquette from 2005 to 2009, teammates for four years with former Jazz guard Wesley Matthews. Matthews and McNeal remain close, he said, and much of what he knows about the Jazz is from watching Matthews, now with the Portland Trail Blazers, in his one season (2009-10) in Utah.

"I got a chance to talk to him earlier this morning right after I got done doing all the paperwork," McNeal said. "Just the type of guy he is, he was super excited for me, and just happy I was getting the opportunity just to showcase my skills and get another shot at this level."

Eldon

Bump.

McNeal and the Jazz face off against Wes and the Blazers in Rip City tonight at 9pm CST.

Hopefully McNeal gets some PT.

Lets hope for a blowout one way or the other.

Jerel hasn't logged a minute yet, but he appeared in the box score in the last game (he should've gotten in as the Jazz were losing by 20). His contract expires Saturday, and the Jazz have one game left tomorrow before they decide whether or not to resign him.

Here's a small article from the Salt Lake Tribune

McNeal's future uncertain

The Jazz signed point guard Jerel McNeal out of the D-League on March 27, meaning his 10-day contract expires Saturday.

Will the team re-sign him?

Corbin would not say, although he praised McNeal's work ethic and how he has fit in with his new teammates.

"He's actually been good," Corbin said. "We haven't had time to get him on the floor and we haven't had much practice time with the whole group. But I like what I've seen with him."

McNeal is the leading scorer in Marquette history. In 44 games with the Bakersfield Jam this season, he averaged 18.1 points and 5.5 assists.

Hopefully what the coach said means they are seriously considering re-signing him.

Well as a season ticket holder for the Santa Cruz Warriors...and 1 game behind the Bakersfield Jam (Jerel's D-league team) for the No. 1 seed in the d-league playoffs and 2 games left (Friday and Saturday)...I am torn.  Would love to see Jerel stay in the NBA...but if he is sent back...with the last game of the year and the no. 1 seed on the line...I know Jerel is going to bring it against the Warriors!

I've never understood why Santa Cruz?

Santa Clara/San Jose would have been SO much better!

Corbin sounds pleasantly surprised. Hope it's not coach speak. Would love to see McNeal on the rooster the rest of the year and get an invite with a legit chance of making the team next year.

Not holding my breath. Between the Jazz and Nuggets, McNeal was the only active player out of 27 not to appear Wednesday. Could be due to lack of practice with the team, but we should know tomorrow. I'll be rooting for a blow out one way or the other tonight.

I will be, too.  Sounds funny/weird saying that though, especially out of context:

"Hey, Eldon, who are you rooting for?"
"I don't really care, man. I'm just hoping for a terrible game of basketball from one of these teams"

DNP-CD last night. Haven't seen any new updates on whether a second 10-day is coming. Seems he was on the bench last night.

Incidentally, Corbin was one of my all time favorites as a kid. He was the kind of quiet, hard working, do what the team asks guy that I think Jimmy Butler is. Corbin had something like 15 years in the NBA and I can see a long career ahead of Jimmy, too.
