National perception tends to think so?

This statement is one of the more ridiculous statements I've heard and you're equally ridiculous for posting such non-sense.  Your "national perception" is based on what, two drunk guys from Duluth?

Honestly...what's the point of starting this thread two days before our Sweet 16 game?!?

Everyone from Minnesota is weird. Fact.

Whew!  Thanks for excluding me since I am not from here.

But what else can they hang their hats on??? Conference affiliation is all they have. Their football and basketball programs have never been relevant.

C'mon their football team has won 7 National Championships.

Oh wait.....they were in 1904, '34, '35, '36, '40, '41 and '60.

There was a girl from Minnesota that pretty much stalked me at Marquette, she was weird as crap and somehow always ended up in my core classes. Really thought I was going to get imprisoned by her in some remote campus apartment.

They say over at Gopherhole that any Big ten job is better than any job regardless.

If you're leaning on your conference affiliation as a selling point to attract a coach, it speaks volumes about everything else your program has going for it.

Sultan, be intelligent, if she was hot it wouldn't be "stalking" it would be "I nailed this chick who was a little off"

The Gophers had a good run from 1993-94 to 98-99 with four NCAA tourney appearances and a Final Four run but those records were officially vacated because of an academic cheating scandal under coach Clem Haskins. Throw out those tainted years, and the Gophers have made the tourney eight times in their history.

Atlanta article mocking their program.

The only job of the ones currently open that is "better" than MU is UCLA and even that you could make an argument that in it's current state UCLA is not.

Was she hot???

No, improved with time though. By graduation she went from a 3 to a 7.

I've been listening to MN sports radio. Callers have Flip Saunders, Buzz Williams, Shaka Smart, and Brad Stevens on their "short list". It's pretty funny.

Facilities might be lacking but I really like the barn, it's a unique venue. Minnesota wants a big name because the high school class of 2014 is loaded with talent.

I lived in Wisconsin for 6.5 years, followed by Minnesota for 9.5 years, followed by Illinois for 16 years. I was a very close observer of college sports in all three places.

The men's head basketball coaching job at Marquette is better in every way to the same position at any of those state's flagship universities.

The Illinois job is the best of the three and Buzz didn't even blink at it last year. Hell, Crean didn't give it serious thought a few years earlier, and many believe he was looking for an excuse to leave MU.

Minnesota's job is the third best of the three.

So if neither Buzz nor Crean had real interest in Illinois, why would anybody think Buzz would consider Minnesota?

I will never fault a program for reaching for the stars. Doubt their wish list comes true, but beats the hell out of stealing Mike Deane from Sienna based off recommendation from disgruntled former employee. Any time a program tries to "steal" someone higher up I respect that. Now, if Buzz goes there I would say he was CRAZY.

Kenosha,

On those same ESPN boards, i saw a poster who said something similar to this, "Syracuse is my team, i can't wait until they beat Indiana IN the Elite 8"

My advice, stay away from ESPN message boards, nothing of any value comes from "those people"

Another reason Buzz shouldn't leave for Minnesota or just about anywhere else ... he's the 7th highest paid coach in the Sweet 16, according to this, better compensated than Crean, Boeheim and Beilein, among others.

Tim Brando on his radio show rip Minnesota a new one. Buildings are terrible. Have to wait to pratice because the women have the floor. It's sounds like UWM.

Unless Buzz wants to coach hockey for the Gophers or 1 of the other 4 D1 programs in the state, I haven't a slightest worry.
