Sweet 16's = UW
NCAA Appearances = UW
NCAA wins = UW
Conference titles = Tied (2 each)

So that combined with the 5 year comparison seems to show MU with a positive trajectory. Unless DS is signing up to play for UW from 1999-2003 MU is clearly the best BBall program in the state, not to mention incoming class of talent and coaching stability (Bo will die/retire before Buzz leaves).

UW would be a graveyard for DS's talents - I'd rather for his sake he ends up out of state than at UW

Future, I go with MU.  But futures have yet to be written.  What has been done is already done, use 10 or 15, they've had the edge any way you look at it.  I will be thrilled if the future holds up to the expectations.  I'd like nothing better than the Vadgers to go down.  You're too young to remember how pathetic they were in the 80's and 90's...IN EVERYTHING sans hockey.  They spend too much now to be that bad again, but it was quite wonderful to be a MU student than when those clowns couldn't get anything right.

Agree on DS.

bilsu

The only thing that matters at this point is whether he wants to be able to shoot threes. How MU/UW fared this year or next means very little.

Can you put some normalized stats together for Buzz vs Bo comparison?

Yup, providing facts.  Someone doesn't like what the facts say...like clockwork.

Yes, you provide facts.

FF's = Same (1 each)
Elite 8's = UW
Sweet 16's = UW
NCAA Appearances = UW
NCAA wins = UW
Conference titles = UW
Conference tourney titles = UW
Head to head = UW
Wins = Very close last I checked, almost even, though some of those years we played in CUSA
NBA players = MU

We're not that far behind, but they have 15 straight NCAA appearances which I think is like 5th best in the nation.  After sucking balls for 54 years, they have put a nice run together the last 15.

Thanks for doing the research. As I said, without looking at records, it feels pretty equal. But, you can't deny Wisconsin's run these past 15 years. Tough to argue with those numbers.

They were really bad in the mid to late 60s as well. I can remember the headlines in the Journal when they won their first football game in over 4 years my senior year.

Interesting question.  Over the last 15 years, no.  Over history, yes.  Now, if the kid wants to go to the Association, there is only one choice in the state...MU

But over the last 5 years, yes. And what kid doesn't want to go to the Association?

This. why is10 or 15 years the relevant timeframe?

Can you help me out on a timeline? You were a student manager w/ Crean while he was here but also know how it felt to be an MU student in the 80s/90s? I've probably mixed something up.

A student manager for TC?

You definitely have timing mixed up.  Graduated during the KO era.  Student volunteer then for NCAA tournament, etc.  Worked in AD after completing graduate degree under Deane and then Crean for 5 years before moving to the pro sports side in Calif.

100's of kids that know they have no shot and are playing ball to play ball with no desire to be part of that life or lifestyle.  I can think of one of our own that played in the association and left because it wasn't for him.

Because that's the only timeframe that actually supports his claim.

Always surprised at the lack of faith in Marquette by people on this board.  I have followed Marquette for 50 years because they had great basketball teams.  Marquette has always emphasized big time basketball and has had super athletes, which have made MU entertaining to watch and many winning teams.  Recently it was reported that Marquette is 6th in the US in the money it spends on its basketball program.  Well, fellow fans, this underlines that Marquette is an elite program and big time basketball power house.  And, the future under Buzz appears to continue strong and brighter.  Go Marquette!!!
