I love you, but...

Vander, Jr, Jamil, Davante, Otule, Lockett and Taylor. Those are your guys; no more experimentation. We need our best lineups in at all times.

Many of those players were in foul trouble.

Today was a very odd lineup display.  Still don't understand why Thomas is in with 6 seconds left and we are down 1.  A lot of bad lineups today.  Miracle win...survive and advance

Totally agree. He has his moments today when Jamil and Davante needed to sit. But way, way too much of Juan.

And by the way, what is getting lost is all of this is that JAKE f'in THOMAS was on the court with MU down 1 and 5 seconds. What in the hell? Why? Shooting a three would be an awful idea. Just very strange.

I Buzz I always trust, no doubt. But wow that was strange.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Interestingly enough, I thought that one move regarding Thomas was brilliant. It forced the defense to spread out and guard him, which left more room for Blue.

Thomas was out there primarily as a decoy, and to hit an open shot if the defense collapsed, which it did not.

AZWarrior

My commentary on the line up has been summarized very well in the "Wheres Steve? JA is no help" thread.

I just don't get why JA is getting so many minutes and ST so few.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Seriously?  Basketball 101.

He's a good shooter.  Keeps a defender occupied on the ball side, and if his defender does collapse, you have a good shooter available.

Keep banging on Buzz though.

I get the argument...if he was a good shooter...which he isn't.

Yeah a coaching genius like Chicos, McKillop or Morrill would have gone with four players instead.

So then McKillop blew it by having one of his guys face up a not good shooter in the corner while Vander drove to the dish for the winner?

Maybe if Crean was the coach you'd understand.  Thomas opens up the lane...

Chicos is really trying too hard to make a point that he can't make.

I get the minutes for the subs...
Keep everyone fresh.  But it seems nobody gets to play more than 2 consecutive minutes.  Could have something to do with the poor shooting.

MU had sooooo many easy shots today.  From within 6 feet.  No offense to Davidson but it wasnt their D that caused the shooting percentage for MU today.  Just take a look at the shoot chart...

A lot of bad lineups today.
that's your opinion, and while you used the Internets and TV announcers to argue a point on a different thread...then i guess you would have to defer to buzz on this one.

Ding, ding.  MUCam, Buzz just called and said you are exactly right.

Goose

When all else fails isolate Blue and let him take to the hoop. Either a basket or foul usually happens.

For what it's worth, if I am McKillop I collapse the defense and make the worst three point shooting team in the tournament beat me with a fourth straight three ball.

Not sure why he didn't.

If you notice, Davidson recognized Thomas as a 3-pt threat (a marquette fan would know better), so his guy face guarded him, leaving the lane wide open for vander to have isolation.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Spot on, Goose.  Let our best player take it to the hoop and get fouled or score.  I'll take that chance every time.
