Butler v. Bucknell
« on: March 21, 2013, 12:13:45 PM »
Maybe it's because both teams are cold but they both look real bad. It's 17 to 12 Butler with 3 mins left in the first half.

I hope Bucknell pulls it out because I think Otule could give Muscala trouble and we could blow them out

Bucknell is playing good defense.   Butler looks like their scheme is to let Bucknell shoot and miss and then get the rebound.   If Bucknell was hitting their open shots, not even their tough one, just their open ones in rhythm, they would be up 10.

21-14 at the half.   Football score.    Like watching a bad Big Teen game.

Sounds like Butler is practicing their defensive strategy for Marquette.

Looked at the box score.

Bucknell 25% shooting
Butler 31% (0-9 3's)
First half flew by only 9 total fouls.

Neither looks able to compensate by dropping 50 in the second half.

OT conference road losses don't bother me.

Nice eight point bounce back from Bucknell. Looked like Butler was taking control.

I have never understood people's infatuation with rooting for fellow conference mates?? To me it's just wrong. The ONLY team I ever want to see do good is MU and MU only. I don't give a rat's ass about anything else. If Georgetown cuts down the nets, is it going to make me feel better because a fellow conference member did it?? Hell no! To me, that's just a knock on MU. It's like being a Packer fan and rooting for the Bears or the Queens. That should just never happen.

No one is forcing you to give a rat's buttocks.  IMO, however, we want the new conference to show as strongly as possible, with MU leading the way of course.  It's beneficial to Marquette when fellow conference members do well.

And, it sets us up for a revenge game in the next round.

Professional Sports are different that colleges.  If all the other new Big East schools did crap for the next 5 years, it will hurt MU, unless we win a couple championships.  You can't recruit really good recruits if you play in a crappy conference.  Now, that can change if you win the national title every year, but that is not going to happen.
