Interesting read...but what the hell is this??

"By now, everybody knows what to expect with a Buzz Williams team; they've known for years, and that hasn't prevented Marquette from excelling anyway."

The article seemed complimentary but that seems like an insult. "Even now, no one seems to know what to expect from a Buzz Williams' team, despite years of excelling" seems more like it.

I wish MU could've done better in the last Big East Tournament ever! ::)

I think what he meant was that Marquette teams are always scrappy and hard working. But I agree that saying no one knows what to expect is more apt. It wasn't just the names on the shirts that differentiated the Three Amigos team, the Lazar team, the DJO/Crowder teams, and this years team. The pace of play, how the teams got their scoring, how he used the bench, Buzz's teams every year have been different. I think this year we are starting to see the team how Buzz wants it. Deep, length at virtually every position, and selfless.

In 2009-10, Buzz adapted to the team's lack of size by using multiple PG lineups to ensure ball safety, scoring from beyond the three-point line, and slowing down the pace of play to allow us a chance to steal games at the end. Within two years we were one of the fastest-paced teams in the country and got lots of our scoring by slashing to the hoop. And this year it's all about hockey rotations, relentlessly pounding the offensive glass, and inside scoring.

I think this year's team is getting closer to what Buzz wants. Add some three-point shooting and it'll be his desired team. Back up next year's recruiting class with a few more and that statement will be true. People will know what to expect, but we'll be too talented for them to stop us from excelling.

Ah, yes, good point Brew. I'm feeling chippy this week with everyone picking Davidson. Hopefully the guys feel the same way and come out swinging!   ;D
