Thanks coach crean for blowing it for MU. Wisconsin to get a 3 seed in the Mt. Horeb pod

hairy worthen

You are putting way too much stock in these tournaments. They will cause slight seed movement but a couple of wins in the tournament isn't going to jump you or drop you several spots.

GGGG

I'm not sure if Kenosha is truly this angst-ridden, or if he is just trolling us all, but it is amusing.

KenoshaWarrior

I'm that angst ridden. I'm just like people i make fun of in my big post

I like the Mt Horeb pod comment!

KenoshaWarrior

They get to play Middleton in the first round cause Belmont couldn't find a good enough corn field to land in.

Today's games will have minimal impact on seeding, really only if there's a landmark shift. Wisconsin already beat IU, this won't change anything for their seeding. Tomorrow's games will have zero impact on seeding unless someone steals a bid, and with UW/tOSU and Miami/UNC all being locked into the tournament, I doubt there will be any bid-stealing.

Quite simply, the committee has most of the field done before this point. I'd guess virtually everyone was slotted and seeded last night and this weekend is just for dickering over which of a group of 10 or so will be the last few teams. As Sultan said, the conference tournaments really aren't that important in terms of seeding. What happens Wednesday through Friday has some impact, beyond that, not so much.

MU still has a great shot at a 4...when's the last time a Big East champion got a 5 seed?

Or maybe they will look at our scrimmage against Virginia and give us the nod.  LOL.

I would take our record (and RPI) vs Bucky's.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/bracketology/team-comparison/MARQET/WISC

whether we like it or not, RPI is an important factor in seeding.

Looking at the comparison, I would argue we should be seeded higher than Wisconson-Madison.

Goose

I hate UW as much as the next guy but they deserve higher seed than we do. Today's win should ice that.

If you ever mention to a badger fan the head to head they always come back with "well we have improved since than". What I don't get is the fact that all teams improve. Marquette didn't get a conference title cause everyone in the conference stayed the same.

It's also no coincidence Bo was voted COY.

There, there, feeling better?  Good!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I'm guessing that after today, Kenpom will have Bucky ranked ... um ... is there anything higher than No. 1?

Well, for those who had us higher than Syracuse on the S-Curve a few days ago, they're also now firmly ahead of us, especially if they hold the lead tonight.  It'll give them a better RPI, 4 more total wins with the same number of losses along with 3 more top 100 wins and no bad losses.  If they would have lost to Pitt on Thursday we'd have the better RPI, same amount of top 100 wins, and better overall record.  I'm sure they will regret making a run in the conference tournament though, since they will now be too fatigued to play again in 5-6 days, too used to Big East play to compete outside the conference, and everyone got hurt.

Edit: Still think they've got the edge on us on the S-Curve.  But damn, UL...that's how you earn a one seed.

Probably never, but most years have only one BE champion. If you look at third place teams in the Big East (since we were the 3 seed in the BE tournament), ND was a 7-seed last year and a 5-seed in 2008 when they tied for second. And in 2006, West Virginia finished in third place and was a 6-seed. So it wouldn't be all that strange. Also, most years don't have 2 teams outside the "Power 6" conferences as 1-3 seeds (NM and Gonzaga this year). That being said, I think we are the last 4 or one of the first 5's.

Nobody ever said badger fans were smart.  But seriously though, you should step away from the keyboard for a few days.

They are really stupid, but because their are so many of them everyone thinks they are geniuses.  Why cant middle class Milwaukee cheer for Marquette?

4everwarriors

Milwaukee has a middle class?

Maybe we have different definitions of middle class, but I know a lot of people who are middle class and/or blue collar in and around Milwaukee who root for both Wisconsin and Marquette.

If we only win a game because we were a four seed versus a five seed, where we really that good in the first place?
