Stone is a Georgetown lean. But there's still 2+ years before he leaves for college. Lots of game left.

In my opinion, he will be a good college player, but he will not be a program changer. Again, don't mean to say he sucks, but don't see him being any more of an impact player than Davante is (also not saying Davante sucks, just not what you'd think the top player in the country coming into college would pan out to be).

I would be almost just as happy to see MU sign Ellenson. Just hope they can get one of those two guys.

Stone will be on par with Gardner in college?

Would rather have Ellenson than Stone?

Wow.

Have never seen him and haven't even really heard much about his game, but he is highly rated and a big, big boy.  Would love to have either as well.  I feel like, just based on location, Ellenson would be more likely to be a "UW lean."  It seems like if you're from anywhere outside of the greater Milwaukee area growing up in Wisconsin your "dream" is to play for the Badgers (in football or basketball).  Having said that, you'd have to think Minnesota has the inside track on Ellenson with his brother currently a freshman playing for the Gophers.

Wow.

Yes.  Have you seen him play?  I saw him get bullied around by a lanky, 6'4" "center" on White Fish Bay.  Couldn't get post position on him and continually got frustrated with his "physicality."  When you're 6'10" and built that big, and you're supposedly polished and the number 1 player in the country at your age, you should be dominating that matchup.  There is no way Stone ends up having the impact of an Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, Nerlens Noel (all top ranked big men in the past couple of years who were 1 and dones).

The scouting services must know something, at least more than most on this board.  He is the #1 recruit in the country for his class after his sophomore year.  Usually, the #1 kid is a program changer, so lets see how he does in next two years.

BCHoopster

He is only 16, give it a break, the kid is a player, now it will depend how hard he wants to work in the weight room and in the gym.  He is more coordinated then any center in the state.

Jamil Wilson was in the top 20 (or higher) his sophomore year (and maybe later), same with JP Tokoto, Corey Lucious was like top 5, Scott Christopherson was up there, etc. etc.  Rankings change a lot between sophomore and senior years.

Heck, look at Kendrick Nunn.  We were drooling because we were the "favorites" for him and he was top 15-20 in his junior year, and now he's like 85.

Point being, the kid is going to be good, but I cannot possibly see him living up to the hype that he has going for him right now.  The thing that he has going for him is that big guys have a history of staying ranked high when they are ranked highly early on, whereas perimeter players change all the time.  So we will see, maybe he will prove me wrong.  I'm just saying that when I watched him play he did not dominate like I would have expected such a highly ranked/hyped player should.  All of the above players ended up to be pretty good players in college, but none were program changers.  I don't see Stone being that.  I think Looney has a much better change of being that than Stone does.

Thats why I said "lets see".........

We are talking the #1 recruit here, not 20, not 10, etc.

Here are the past #1's:

John Wall
Harrison Barnes
Austin Rivers
Shabazz Muhammed

Not bad, but again lets see how the young kid plays in next two years.

Yeah, exactly.  I just do not see him being on that same level.  But again, they were #1 when they were seniors and Stone is a sophomore.  Lots of time to develop his game, so I could be completely wrong by 2015.

BCHoopster

Scouting services normally get it right for the first 1-20, then it is crapshoot, no scouting service knows how a kid is going to mature mentally as well as physically.  But more often then
not they are very good at the top, why?  They see every kid at AAU events or summer camps, but some do fall thru the creeks, this year, Otto Porter.  If you recruit kids and get some in
the Top 100, your program will always be good.  MU has done that, they will just have more next year.  Johnson and Wilson both lead there teams to a state championship, McKay is a top
3 juco, I think those 3 will get the most time next year, but never knock out Burton and Dawson, should be fun the next few years.  Next year if O'tule comes back, they will be really good.
They might have some kids who can actually put the ball in the basket, Lockett, Wilson and Anderson are challenged in that area.

muhoops1

I remember when Walter Downing transferred to MU.  Sooo excited, yet we didn't win a Championship.

I remember when Rashard Griffiths signed with UW.  Sooo bummed, yet they didn't win a Championship.

This too shall pass.  MU needs to catch lightening in a bottle to win a title.  A little less fortune to get to the FF.

Let the kid be a kid.

As of this moment, Diamond is a junior prom lean. Y'all need to take a chill pill, bang your old lady, or have a Guinness. Maybe all three.

You said he would par on with Gardner. I would take 80% of Anthony Davis before on par with Gardner. The kid is ranked #1 in his class for a reason.

The ND game. Stone gets 4 free days where the badger faithful can get in His and maybe Duane Wilson's ear too

Wisconsin is closer to Iowa, so they're certainly getting into Jameel's ear as well!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Just saw it in another thread maybe we should be concerned

Maybe our strong showing against Virginia in the scrimmage will sway Stone our way.

He is only a sophomore, he will be scary good in three years, playing summer ball at MU gym with Duane Wilson, I like our chances.

Didn't you hear?? Duane may not becoming cause we lost to ND.

Yes, we definitely need two threads discussing the same thing, started by the same person.

Just plain crazy talk. The kid sat behind me for something like 10 games this year. He can commit to MU or Bucky his senior year and still get love from all the bigs. And Ellenson is more likely to go to Minnesota than Madtown. Crazy talk.
