Why don't they do it with all of the player awards?

"Williams is expected to be named the Big East's coach of the year Tuesday."

This is from Mike Hunt's blog.

The fact that Mr. Michael rarely reports positive news just for the heck of it makes me actually believe this. Unless he's just messing with us all.

Buzz flat out deserves it. Best job I have seen at MU in a long time. Especially impressive seeing that read that showed our less than stellar individual stats. This was done with smoke and mirrors.

I just don't get the feeling Buzz will take it this year. JT3 or Wright would be my bets.

TallTitan34

JT3 was picked to finish 5th and has Otto.

Marquette was picked to finish 7th and has one guy on the all Big East second team and one honorable mention.

But JT3 lost his second best guy midway through the season and got better.  I want Buzz to win, but JT3 is not an egregious choice.  I think Wright would be a bad choice over either of them.

You don't need to convince me. I think Buzz should get it, without a doubt. I just don't think he will based on media, etc.

Also, MU lost DJO and Crowder, while Gtown lost their top 3 scorers and another player halfway through the season.

How many McDonalds All American players does Gtown have compared to us?

They do it on Tuesday with POY and ROY.

I hope Mick Cronin gets it. Did a masterful job this season.

Yes, because this is what solid, veteran, legitimate U.S. newspaper journalists do all the time: purposely report something on Monday with the full intent to look foolish on Tuesday.

Jeesh. Even when folks on this board aren't shooting the messenger they're still shooting the messenger.

Porter for POY and Wooden. Buzz for BE COY. That's fair.

That is a big part of being a coach, actually.

And the fact we went 10 deep. Spread the peanut butter across a slice of bread instead of a Ritz cracker.

Buzz' coaching this year was the best by a Marquette coach since KO prowled the hardboards and bars of Milwaukee.

Zagoria tweeted that JT3 is expected to win.  Unfortunately for Buzz, I trust Zagoria a wee bit more than Hunt.

Zag is pretty clued in with the Big East.

Unless there is a late push for a co-COY, it looks like Buzz will be overlooked. Just like his team.

Absolutely.  He broke Jae Crowder winning POY last year before anyone else.  Would agree that best we can hope for now is co-COY.

Really, does it even matter? Buzz gets his well deserved award every 1st and 15th of the month.

He did a good job, but again, it's obvious from this thread that MU fans still don't realize how talented this MU team really is. Talent wins ball games. MU can get production from anyone any game. Georgetown was ALL Otto Porter. Perhaps the other Coaches realized the error of their ways as the season went on picking MU for 7th and realizing just how talented they are. MU is overall more talented than is Georgetown. I can see why, if that is their thinking that JTIII would win it. I still think Buzz deserves it, but when you look at it from this perspective, I can understand why he wouldn't.

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

I don't think it was really a story to break, unless he had it before the all conference teams were named. Jae was the only unanimous first teamer last year, just like Porter this year.
