It sounds like a hostage situation.

This is assuming we forget about the other NINE D1 programs in Indiana. An incredible number compared to WI. IU no doubt is THE hoops program in Indiana, but to say IU is the be all end all is a slap to Butler, Purdue, Notre Dame....i'm out of breath. I wish WI college hoops held a candle to IN, unfortunately that is not the case.

I was referring to geographical footpriint....there are IU fans throughout the state of Indiana. I would bet that when you get more than thirty miles away from campus, the fan bases for those other schools start dissipating pretty quickly.

Same with the state of Wisconsin. After taking alumni and family of alumni out of the equation, I am sure there is a higher percentage of UW-Madison fans in LaCrosse than there are UW-LaCrosse fans in Madison.  Madison is The State School, just like IU is in Indiana.

Tennessee has thirteen D1 schools.  But other than the general Memphis area (U of Memphis) and upper- and middle-upper-class Nashvillians (Vanderbilt) nearly all casual college basketball fans root for University of Tennessee.
Have some patience, FFS.

I am too lazy to look for myself.  Has anyone checked any of the Big Least's forums or local papers to see how they like their amazing new moniker?

FREE THE AMERICA 12!

Too bad Saturday is an away game.  That might make a good sign for the student section.
Have some patience, FFS.

IU fans are vastly, vastly outnumbered north of Indianapolis by Purdue fans. It's not even close. You're right about the other schools, though.
