I love it.  And the C7 should tell them we couldn't care less.

Catholic 7 coming to fruition quickly now

Report has formation of new league imminent with Notre Dame scrambling for short-term home
February 28, 2013|By Brian Hamilton, Chicago Tribune reporter

Subtly, quietly, Notre Dame coaches received word a few weeks back that they should plan for another year in the Big East, that the tumult of conference realignment didn't portend a new home until another two summers had passed.

Deafeningly, with all the delicacy of an air horn fired off an inch from their ears, every Irish coach and player and administrator received a new message Thursday: Prepare for just about anything now.
Silenzio. Parla il moomoo.

On Saturday, I'll give Brey some Kleenex out of my purse.
Have some patience, FFS.

That will not help their recruiting.

Neither does only going to school with 2 Sweet 16 appearances in over 20 years.  ND basketball is a joke.

I don't know if being ranked 21st in the country - a spot ahead of us qualifies as a joke...  they represent one of our top rivals and most played opponent...  maybe we will let them in!

Badgerhater

Let them in for a year....if they pay to be there.

Yes, ND has a respectable hoops program and is a major rival. But no, they don't get in.

I wonder what Brey will give you in return from his?

I don't get the hate.  Sure they're an on court rival but to me our biggest rivals are the SEC & the Big Ten.  Those are the schools that could drive us extinct.  In a perfect world, ND would have stayed in the Big East.  They were forced to moved to protect themselves in an ever-changing landscape.

If ND needs a home that just means 1-2 more good games next year.  Heck, does Louisville need a home, I'd take them.

My god, if I might have to get married to Dayton, I'd definitely sleep with ND.

I don't get the hate.

That's easy ... they were rejected admission to ND and MU was their second choice.

Didn't apply, didn't have any desire to. Just can't stand 'em for all the reasons that make up a great rivalry.

For me it was Digger Phelps.  And it will be again, if he gets pulled out of the closet for the NCAA tournament.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Same here as far as not applying. Why the hatred?  They're Notre F-ing Dame.  What other reason do we need?  F the domers.

I was accepted to both Michigan and ND.   After visiting the campuses, I knew I couldn't go either place.   Such palpable arrogance.   But I didn't really learn to 'hate' ND until David Rivers.    Seeing beer get spilled on Digger is still one of my great memories.   So, I would take them if they wanted to commit to the Big East, but for a year?    Enjoy your C-USA exile.

For me they are my college football team.  Root for them all the time when they are not going against MU.

The school I cannot stand and have no use for is UW.  To me its just a giant community college.

As usual around here this comment will generate even more ND hate and UW love/justifications ...

I absolutely take Notre Dame for the one year, no questions asked. Surprised there's even a discussion in that regard. They would be a one-year positive for the conference, get us to 10 without paying an additional buyout, and likely lessen the buyout fees for the teams we plan to add in 2014. No-brainer decision to take the Irish for a year.

So, we leave a conference with no stability, and the first thing you want to do is take on a one-year rental? ::)

I'd let the Irish in if they agree to a 16-year home and home deal with Marquette.

My first response was why not then I read the quotes from their AD and my updated response is FU.  Swarbrick's quote from ESPN article:

"If the Catholic 7 is leaving and forming its own conference for next year, they could certainly call us to want to explore our options," Swarbrick said Friday. "And if they were interested in accommodating us, it would certainly be a viable option. We have a lot of respect for those schools and know them well."

Well excuse me your the one who needs some help but we should pick up the phone and call you why? because you are ND are we are not.  No thanks.

Wrong.  Its not always the best idea to take the quick short term cash. ND would be near the top of the conference and then they leave. How does that help, other than to protray the new conference as weak, unstable and a bunch of money grabbers. Not a good decision and yes there should be serious discussion against doing it.
