MU definitely catching some breaks there, but out of our control...you play who you play and if their players aren't there not anything we can do about it. Just take advantage of it.

The RAC is a tough place to play, no doubt.  But Rutgers is in the 100s in the RPI, BPI and Pomeroy.  Have lost 10 of 12.  Are 13-13 overall.  Missing their best player.  Can't overlook them, but it should be a win for MU 80% of the time.

Live in Jersey so I've had plenty of time watching Rutgers. One of those squads that lacks just a little something in every position so they can stay tight for 10, 20, sometimes 30 minutes but eventually they fall away. Of course, now without Carter, that weakness is magnified and typically only stay tight for 3/4 of a half.

If MU beats ND, I'd have to imagine the focus will be laser tight knowing what they can achieve. I don't doubt them to win those games next week even given their struggles away from home this season.

Yeah, I thought of the timing of it too.  Georgetown would have to lose tomorrow (ironically to Rutgers) for it really to matter.

I am always cautious when these things happen.  Sometimes they will be the reverse by addition through subtraction.  Harrison was their best scorer because he was a chucker.  What happens when you take him out of the equation and they run a more cohesive offense.  Unless it is something related to the NCAA, I wouldn't think that Lavin would suspend him with a shot at the tournament.  If Harrison was a "cancer" on the team this could be a very good thing for St. John's but we will have to see.

A similar scenario, which I think plenty of people also refer to as a 'trap' is when a team steps up and beats a solid opponent and seems to have a (false) bravado when next facing a seemingly weak opponent. If MU beats ND, they are coming off two good and important wins, with a realistic chance to finish at least tied for first...it will be critical that the team isn't overconfident going to Rutgers. That's the potential trap.

What don't you see happening: Beating ND and thus having two solid wins in a row against quality teams (albeit at home) then going to a supposedly weak opponent in Rutgers? Or, the team perhaps being overconfident after a solid win? While there was the Savannah State game (a big blowout) between UW and UWGB, I think most of us might say that the team was possibly overconfident going up to Green Bay. Doesn't make it a trap game, but it might keep us from thinking that we'll win even seemingly easy road games.
