Wade for President

For someone who lives nearly 300 miles away (Indianapolis) and rarely gets an opportunity to get back to Milwaukee for a game, I want to give a standing ovation to the student section, and all the fans in attendance last night.

MU hit it out of the park last night on the primetime Monday night slot.  I received text messages from countless non-MU fans about how great a game/atmosphere it was.  Everything from the crowd, to the huge plays (Jake's 3, Todd's two 3 balls, Jamil's alley-oop), to the sweet baby blues, to Sean/Jay/Bill holding up their own Big Heads, to Davante's chest pounding in his new Jordan's...MU couldn't have asked for better publicity.

Sure, it would've been nice - both from a standings perspective and outsider's opinion - to have Cuse come in ranked in the Top 10, but last night was a big night for our program (or as Buzz pronounces it, "progrum").

I have to give the student section massive props for their energy and effort.  Awesome job.  Hell, the greatest chant to ever come from the students when I was at MU was "Put in Polo!" (for the little used John Polonowski).

Thanks to everyone in the BMOHBC (is that an abbreviation for a boy band?) for making Marquette fans across the country proud.

Let's do it all over on Saturday.

Agreed, one of my non MU buddies told me after the game "I didn't realize how crazy your students were about basketball". Very proud to be a Warrior today
Bring back FFP!!!

All that and they didn't even have to put t-shirts on everyone's seats.

I was there!

After last night, one understands why the Bradley Center is a tough place for an opponent to win. It's loud, at times obnoxious and always behind our Warriors.

For a long time, I thought we lost an intimacy when we moved from the Arena. We've more than made up for it.

Only criticism, there were a lot of fans masquerading as empty seats last night. I was disappointed the place wasn't sold out and filled to the rafters. Maybe we're spoiled, but the place should have been filled.

But it was wonderful to be there..... glad I went!

By stark contrast, I caught the second half of the Villanova-Seton Hall game, which was a good nailbiter, and the arena was half empty, if that. The Bradley Center is a great venue, the crowds are fantastic and the bat still makes it to the highlight reels.

Normally, I'm with ya. But give me 16k that make noise like that over 18k that don't.

Saturday should be a lot of fun. I hope MU starts strong, the crowd gets going, and they absolutely bury ND.

One stupid question.  Second half, we go on huge run and the place is going nuts...  Not sure exactly when it was but the band goes into Ring Out and does it once and immediately stops.  It was the wierdest thing.  The entire place did the gooo...gooo the first time and then they stopped.  I had 2 clients at the game who never had been to an MU game and kept saying "this is way better than a bucks game" and when the ring out stopped they both looked at me and went "that was cool, what was that and why did they stop like that...????"

And I agree, I was slightly disappointed that it was not sold out.

The crowd was so loud that sometimes you couldn't even HEAR the band.  I wouldn't have even known they were playing except that the band director was waving his arms.
Have some patience, FFS.

Last night was so much fun. The most fun I've ever had a Marquette game over my 1.5 years here so far, even better than the Badger game. The "Catholic 7" chant probably my favorite moment of the season so far right along with trolling the badger fans by playing jump around at the end of that game.

I think Saturday is going to be electric.

There are exactly 10 seats left, scattered around the lower bowl.

Depending on the suite-level crowd, they could hit 19k. Possibly break the record again.

The crowd absolutely BROUGHT IT last time, just as the team did.  As someone said, an electric 16K beats 18 or 19K anyday. In my six years of attending MU games, this was among the best crowds I've ever been a part of.

Proud to be a Warrior. MU Nation--keep it going--let's do it again Saturday!

Also, LOVE the "Catholic Seven" cheer. That should be repeated on Saturday

College basketball is the BEST.

No doubt.  A business acquaintance gave us floor seats to the Heat/Bulls game last week, and you know what?  It was great to see Dwyane and Jimmy play against each other, but other than that,  it wasn't exciting at all.  I'd trade those tickets any day for okay seats at a good college game.

.

How did this sound?  What was chanted?  I'm hearing monks chanting in a cathedral in Latin.  Am I off?

My son and I went to that game too. Other than the Taj Gibson dunk to go ahead 38-36 it was SO boring and never close. Last night as we were leaving my son said his ears were still ringing as we got to the car.

Crowd was awesome last night and it showed on TV.  I really hope we can still get crowds like that in the new league.

The game was sold out.  It just wasn't full.

It wasn't sold out.  Attendance was 16,049 and there were a lot of tickets available on Ticketmaster yesterday afternoon.
