New starting lineup
« on: February 23, 2013, 07:46:04 PM »
This is what we need to see the rest of the year(unfortunately we won't).

Blue
Mayo
Jamil
Taylor
Gardner

Blue, Mayo and even Jamil can handle ball handling duties. This lineup is your best scoring lineup, and probably won't turn the ball over as much.

I like that SL wouldn't mind having Otule start and Gardner off bench though

That'd be fine with me too, just want Mayo, Jamil and Taylor in the starting lineup. What does Buzz have to lose trying it?? If it works, stick with it, if it doesn't, you'll know pretty early in the game.

Yeah, the team is 10-4 and that screams time for a radical change.

19-7, 10-4, radical line up change.  Oy.

Yes, bench all the seniors!

It's time to end the Anderson experiment and get Jamil or Taylor in the starting lineup.  Other than that, you stick with what you've got.  Benching all the seniors isn't going to propel this team to the Final Four.  And got to love that Mayo has a good five minute stretch and his terrible play that got him benched last game is not only forgotten, but there are calls to start him again.

When one of those Seniors is your starting PG and he's turning the ball over at an alarming rate, that ain't propelling you to anywhere but a one and done in the NCAAs either. He needs to sit...clear his head. Refocus.

He needs to sit...clear his head. Refocus.

Maybe he should do push-ups, run wind sprints in a rubber suit or workout with a medicine ball and all the other cliches from the 1950s when He needs to sit...clear his head. Refocus was a popular notion.

Again, why do people want to create a new role for the leading scorer on the team with four games left in the year?  And no offense, but I think if Vander had the ball in his hands, the point guard position would still have a bunch of turnovers.  I love the guy, but his ball handling against quality defenses is suspect.

What are the options?  Derrick Wilson?  He's a solid guy, but he doesn't do much out there.  Vander Blue?  Great time to give your leading scorer a role that he has NEVER PLAYED BEFORE.

Taylor is a solid rebounder and adds a few hustle baskets we wouldn't get without him on the floor. For anyone who has actually coached or played organized basketball, is he a liability on defense? On and/or off the ball? I notice him when he does well and love his upside, think he'll be great in the long run, and even a bit now, but I'm not one who watches players not guarding the ball on defense.

I think he's getting better on the defensive end.  I wouldn't mind seeing him getting more minutes at Juan's expense.

Vander needs the ball in his hands more often. More importantly he needs the ball where he can make things happen. Watching Jr. lumber up the court and stop 40 feet from basket is very frustrating.

Loved watching Steve's efforts, esp on O-board, but Pinkston owned him.

The nature of college basketball.

Steve Taylor is the same position and was similarly ranked.  He's just got more people in front if him than Pinkston does.

The starting lineup should be Gardner, Taylor, Blue, J.Wilson and Mayo with D. Wilson coming in off the bench when needed.

I have accepted that we will not see the best starting lineup anytime soon. Buzz is going with the guys he trusts and that is good enough for me. My hopes for season were being bubble team and we will make NCAA. I am with 4ever though, we need better players to go further.

Really?  Who's going to play point?  Blue or Mayo?

You do realize that neither one of them have played the position at this level right?

Not to mention that Taylor didn't have to sit out an entire year for criminal problems.
