I would say that TC brought MU back to where we are now.  Better off with Buzz, but without TC, no DWade, no Steve Novak, at others. no Final Four.  NO job is forever, and Indiana
is probably a bigger opportunity, no one likes how he walked out, but so what, any way you look at it, it was not going to be easy.  We have not missed a beat, had fun and did not have 3
years of bad teams.  The fan base for Indy is insane, I which MU could draw fans like they do.  Do you think MU could draw 17,000 for 3 years as bad as Indy was?

You're pissing in the wind.

There are a handful of posters, a couple handfuls if you include all of warthog's IDs, who will never let it go because Crean was mean to them once.

And there are people like you who get butthurt about us making fun of him and feel the need to come into every thread and swing your dick around like a big man instead of just ignoring the threads because God forbid someone have an opinion different than yours, oh mighty, wise and all-knowing Comic Book Guy.

Give it a rest already. We get it. You're an internet tough guy. Your schtick is second-generation stale at this point, bro. And it's as bad as Crean's fake-bake tan.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Guy with a crummy job, living at home, who spends his time on-line jerkin off to internet smut then swaggerin around the Al like he's the BMOC.

Not a good sign when the thread telling everyone to stop talking about TC still uses the same SUPER TIRED nicknames for him.

No matter how many alltierations of Tanned and Brozed you string together, the joke's still old you Too Tired Teetering Tell Alls who Tattle about Tanned Tommy.

(See. Mine was orgininal and still not funny.)

I am over what Tanned Tommy did to us, but he will always be the coach I love to hate.

And I still chuckle during the pregame Remember the Titans video when the student section boos Crean, and then immediately cheer for D Wade.  I bet 80% of those kids don't even know why they are booing.

I understand you may hope to believe what you write but the bolded shows you're still stuck.

Crean didn't "do" anything to Marquette. To think so is to be blinded by hurt. And if you are firm in your belief that Crean did "do" something to Marquette it has worked out very well for both him and Indiana as well as our program. So why the childish grudges from so many?

And I've never met a fan of any program, basketball or otherwise, that "hates" a former coach who didn't set progress back years except for MU people. Hell, fucking Dukiet gets a longer leash than Crean. That's weird.

At this point, probably the only thing that could possibly allow Sultan to regain some semblance of cool is if he were to start writing haiku. That'd be so badass.

This thread is stupid

MUfan12

Can only speak for myself, and the conversations I've had with people, but I think the reason this topic still exists is because people couldn't say it while he was here. After the Final Four, no one dared say a bad word because they were scared to lose him to another school. He turned off a lot of people with the way he went about things after the Final Four, but MU was in rare air, so nothing was said.

Do I actively follow and root for IU to lose? Nah. But if they do, I get a chuckle out of it.

So this forum is sports radio in Michigan?  Huh...

Go to any equivalent message board and you won't see it.  Not sure if its because the fans simply have moved on, or the mods just got rid of it, but you won't see it.

But Pakuni is right.  It is the SAME cast of characters saying the SAME damn things over and over...beyond tiring.

This forum is not sports talk radio in Michigan.   But we are hardly the only fanbase that says bad things about a coach who left.   And I like Crean.   I just don't think he is above criticism.
So what is fair?    While Crean was at MU and Murf was on this board, there was a frequent debate about Crean's offense and whether or not it effectively used bigs.   I always defended it, citing how Crean used Jackson.   Murf would say the reason Crean couldn't land bigs at MU was because of his offense.   I now see there may have been truth in what Murf said because with a POY candidate in Zeller, Crean's crunch time call was to have Oladipo do a Jerel McNeal imitation.    We had a huge thread citing end of game defense for MU.   Is it not fair to level the same criticisms at Crean that we leveled at Buzz?    I went back and found a thread from 2006 where I said that his in-game coaching was "a work in progress."    Who put you in charge of saying I can't repeat that criticism now?    Why is it wrong for anyone, especially those who were critical of him while he was here, to still be critical of him and revel in instances that reinforce their criticism?

^ About as much merit as this thread...

But i do agree, I've always defended crean, i love what he did for MU, but he's a d***hole.  Big deal. move on.

Last Crean thread I will ever look at... booooring

Hey Crean got me back to paying attention to MU BBall again. Moved to West Coast, lived near Pepperdine and UCLA so I watched and followed them.  When he got the program back on track and got my atttention I began to follow. Now I am once again a die hard.. For that I am greateful and all the rest is repetitive and yawn inducing.

Peace  Out

TC is not really MU-basketball centric, so maybe let people piss on TC and each other in the superbar?

I don't really care about the schadenfreude anymore, but we probably don't need multiple threads on the main board.

Just a thought.

I LOATHE this argument. Are you seriously saying that in all the possible scenarios where we didn't hire Crean, but another coach, we would have not gotten Wade or Novak or been to a Final Four? That's absolutely illogical. Hell, who knows, with another coach we may have won multiple championships. You can't logically declare either way the possibilities or results.

That said, it's time to move one. I, for one, had serious misgivings when we hired Buzz. I was fearful we had a roll-up of Mike Dukiet and Mike Deane into our new coach.

Didn't Mike Deane bring us to two tournament appearances and an NIT championship game?

At this point, I don't even really care he left MU for II,II...

He was a douche of a person while at Marquette and he still is a douche of a person at II,II...

So, yes I like to see douche's lose whenever possible...

Mike Deane claims he brought Wade to MU

Mike Deane claimed a lot of things....I'll listed to Dwyane Wade and how he came to MU, but that doesn't fit your agenda.

That argument works both ways, right?  You could say that Buzz should have taken us to a Final Four by now, especially if the terrible previous coach did?  You could say if we didn't hire Buzz and hired someone else, we might have gone to a Final Four.  That argument can be used on anything because it is impossible to prove.

What we do know, from Wade himself, is that he connected with the man and that's why he came to MU.  So, would another coach have led him to MU?  Maybe, impossible to know but we can play the what-if game forever if you wish with our current or former coaches.  The facts are, he was here, we did get a Final Four, we did get Novak, we did get Wade, we did get Diener, we did get Wes, Lazar, DJ, JM, etc.  Would we have still gotten them?  Maybe.  Would we have gotten even better players?  Maybe.  Would we have had worse players?  Maybe.  Play this game forever.  You can only go by what actually happened and what the comments were of the players that actually played at MU and WHY they chose MU.

Hards Alumni

I'll always root against him.  But I don't need to start threads about it.  Just like I will always cheer against KO.  Part of me chuckled when he got canned.

It is alright if some people don't want to cheer for the guy; and it is just fine if people want to.

I'm not sure we need a new thread about it every other week... Maybe we could all keep our Crean feelings to ourselves? :)
