All right guys, is it time to let up on the Tanned One?

I read on the boards how much everyone loves to hate Tommy Crean. I was angry too and thought he was a bit of an a*s when he took the job in Indiana. Like many of the posters in the years since, I was scared about the condition of our program. And, when we see Indiana ranked Number 1, as they will be until Monday morning, we legitimately wonder if that could have been us.

That said, it's time to move one. I, for one, had serious misgivings when we hired Buzz. I was fearful we had a roll-up of Mike Dukiet and Mike Deane into our new coach. I was sooooooooooooo wrong! I like what we have. In fact, I've come to like what we have more than what we had back when the Tanned One was here. I think Buzz is building something special and although the jury is still out on whether we hang NCAA Champions Banner #2 in the Bradley Center, I'm confident we're moving that way.

So let the tanned one go. He's still a bit of an a*s. The best thing we can do now is ignore the Tanned One -- after all, he has to live in Bloomington, for heaven's sake! And who can stand THAT much red (maybe that's conditioning to hate the Red Rodent!)

Coleman

Agree with you but...

Do we really need to start a thread on this? This is just bringing it up again and will probably turn into a 15 page thread...

You're pissing in the wind.

There are a handful of posters, a couple handfuls if you include all of warthog's IDs, who will never let it go because Crean was mean to them once.

I enjoy reveling in schadenfreude.  Sue me.  Crean losing is entertaining.

I won't sue you...I'll just take pity on you.

I am over what Tanned Tommy did to us, but he will always be the coach I love to hate.

And I still chuckle during the pregame Remember the Titans video when the student section boos Crean, and then immediately cheer for D Wade.  I bet 80% of those kids don't even know why they are booing.
Have some patience, FFS.

Schadenfreude over a guy who has a top 5 team and another top 10 recruiting class coming in next year?
Yeah, we sure showed him.

Warriorchick .... Tanned Tommy didn't do anything to us. He took a better job. That is all.

MerrittsMustache

Personally, I was happy to see Crean land on his feet after Marquette fired him to promote a better coach.

Do Illinois fans root for Self?   Do Kansas fans root for Roy?    Do Sparty, Dolphin, LSU fans root for Saban?   Do Florida fans root for Urban?   Are Wisconsin fans going to root for Bielema?    And if there weren't a couple of sycophantic Joanies on this board still loving their Chachi in Bloominton, I am guessing some of it would go away.

The best judges of character would be the 12 young men who learned of the treachery of The Bronzed Betraying Benedict of Bloomington on ESPN...I read in the Oregonian how Wes touches base with Buzz almost daily. Zero mention of Tanning Oil.

No one is suggesting that they should root for him.  But I am pretty sure those boards aren't full of similar, pathetic posts about a coach that left them five years ago...and is actually doing a good job.

And no one here defends Crean before someone bashes him first.  So you can't blame Chicos for this one.

It's kind of amusing that a plea to stop talking about Crean is, itself, talking about Crean.

Says the guy with a dozen IDs because he can no longer get the attention he apparently needs.

So says the guy who pontificates on all matters...I don't require any attention. This is an amusing alter ego. For you and Chicos it is how you try to get validation for what is missing in your lives. Does your mother make you pay rent or do you make it up in chores?

May I suggest there's a sliiiigghhht difference between "rooting" for the guy and wishing so many here weren't obsessing over the guy to the point that threads aren't constantly being started and/or derailed to debate the same old crap over and over.
For chrissakes, Crean is a central figure in five of the first 11 threads on this forum. The dude left five years ago but at times is still the main topic of discussion around here. You think you'd find that on the Illinois, Florida, Kansas, etc. forums?

Also, could you please point out the last time Chicos or any of the other imaginary Joanies started a thread about Crean?

Balderdash.   Listening to sports talk radio in Michigan during December, there was 100 calls saying they were going to have to root for ND for the first times in their life because their loathing of Saban was so deep and so total.    There was not 1 (and believe me, I was listening for it) saying that Sparty nation should forgive and forget and wish Saban well and what a great guy he is and how much he did for MSU.   I am willing to bet if there had been, the following discussion would have made this board look tame.
Crean is a good coach.   He did a lot for MU and I appreciate his time here.   He is not a man without flaws and now that he is no longer MU's burden, they are easier to notice.

I am not saying that isn't obsessive.   I am just saying that it isn't unique.

So this forum is sports radio in Michigan?  Huh...

Go to any equivalent message board and you won't see it.  Not sure if its because the fans simply have moved on, or the mods just got rid of it, but you won't see it.

But Pakuni is right.  It is the SAME cast of characters saying the SAME damn things over and over...beyond tiring.
