"2. JaJuan Johnson, SG
Signed with Marquette
ESPN 100: No. 64
Johnson is one of those guys I can't ignore my gut feeling on. He's athletically gifted and can defend, but my sense is that his game and body haven't synced up yet. There's a hint of Iman Shumpert in his game. I'd rather be on the record with him than miss the boat. "

For the love of God I hope he shows or Buzz might pull a Crean and bolt

1) Why would he not show?

2) Why would Buzz bolt? He's got a senior laden team best year with 3 top 60 recruits (if you include McKay) even if Johnson doesn't show.

Silly post.

JustinLewisFanClubPres

I believe he's also signed a letter of intent so he isn't going anywhere without our release first.

think he was joking and forgot to use teal.

I hope so. These so-called recruiting "experts" miss all the time. I cant figure out why people follow them...

Losing Iman broke Crean's back at Marquette.

Yeah I know that's what they say. But Tom Crean also left for a historically better program. One of the best programs in the history of Men's College Basketball. He didn't just leave to get out of town at the first phone call because Iman passed on Marquette. If Iman had committed and IU still had come calling Crean would have been at IU and taken Iman with him. Or left him behind if Iman chose that route.

If Buzz is going to leave it's not going to be because 1 recruit turned him down. It'll be because he found a better place for himself, whether it's administration that better suits him, closer to home, a better program, or other reasons.

In college BBALL recruiting is 75% of a team success and coaching is 25%. So if you can goto a school were its easier to land top 50 player's year in and year out, more then likely you are going to win more.  Indiana has as a state has more bball talent and IU is the biggest BBALL school in the state.

Crean was, is, and always will be, spineless.

I worry about this too but at the end of the day recruits want to go where a great coach is; it's a chicken and egg thing...does the coach make the school a destination or does the school being a destination bring the coach.   Can def go both ways

AirPunches

Shumpert would have came to MU had all gone according to plan and DJ went pro early, right? I don't blame Shumpert for not wanting to sit on the bench behind those three.

The only way he DOESN'T show is if Buzz pulls a Crean and bolts.

He's shooting up the rankings, at #31 in Scout's most recent publishing - borderline 5 star material.  He's gonna be really good fit for us.

Scout also rated Embiid #61 in their most update.  That one makes my heart hurt.  Would have taken an already amazing class to a surefire title contender.

TC saw the writing on the wall.  Even those who supported him wondered why recruiting was so inconsistent.  He got out while the gettin was good.

Even Indiana boards are onto him, questioning his coaching ability.  If he wastes the opportunity Zeller has give him to win a NC, IU fans will get restless.

madtownwarrior

hey cool, a post on a recruit is turning into yet another crean pissing thread - who would have guessed?

Aughnanure

Really, now he HAS to win an NC for a program with such little NCAA success in the past decade? I know its Indiana, but that's a bit strong. If he can get them to an Elite 8 in the next two years he'll be fine.

But there will be a championship in his family after this weekend.  I wonder if they'll let him try on the ring.   I have a comical picture in my mind of family gathering and TC showing up at the door, and the losing brother holding out his hand, and Tom moving past him and giving a big hug to the winner.

What's the over/under on the number of times TC's mug is flashed on the tube?

If Crean hadn't left for Indiana, or anywhere else, he would still be coaching at MU.  Mbakwe probably stays...Tyshawn Taylor comes on campus...all would have been fine.

Mbakwe was out the door if Crean stayed. Briefly reconsidered when he left. As to things being "fine", perhaps - but not as fine as they are.

I don't doubt that...but the "getting out while the getting was good" is nonsense.

So, how about that Jajuan Johnson kid?  I hear he's pretty good!

Right, because every coach that has had an above average center wasted their opportunity when they didn't win the National Title.

Settle down with the hate.

OK, the got out while the getting was good part was overstated.  I stand by the rest of the post.

Not a Crean hater at all.  I only added to the TC comments because if the Iman comparisons.  I think questioning TC's recruiting at MU is valid.  Very inconsistent.
