The draft picks they have made have raised the Hawks from the bottom.  The young players that are coming up through the system and players like Kane and Toews will keep the Hawks rolling for years to come.

Most of that young talent -- Toews, Kane, Sharp, Crawford, etc -- was acquired by Dale Tallon, as was Hossa. Tallon was unceremoniously dumped in a power grab by the Bowmans, who had Rocky Wirtz's ear.

Rocky and McDonough have done great things reshaping the team's image, and it's hard to fault Stan Bowman for finding some nice supporting players. But Tallon was treated shabbily by an organization he has done nothing but support. In fact, he continues to support it.

Class act. Deserved better.

Yes, Dale deserves the credit for the Hawks current foundation.  I believe they used the incident involving the restricted free agents where the offers were submitted late? Or something to that effect, to fire him.  It was pretty clear they were trying to make Scott Bowman happy and have his son be the GM.

At any rate, a lot of the reason the Hawks are so good now is from those cellar years where they were able to draft Toews, Kane, Seabrook, etc.  Tallon has an excellent eye for young talent.

Chara did not impress me one bit.  Physically imposing, but the Hawks were skating circles around him as the series went on.  I know he was on the ice for the first goal...not sure about the second.

He was on the ice for 10 of the last 12 Hawks goals.

Real Chili 83.....Stan Bowman is also a ND grad.

You get new people in charge and it happens.  Dean Taylor did a lot of the drafting that built the Brewers recent success, but a new owner and he's gone.

Rocky and McDonough have done a great job of just not screwing anything up, which is something the old man probably would have done.

Congrats Blackhawks fans.  Didn't see game as I was occupied on business travel, but heard the last 2 minutes were insane.  Well done.

Watch Kane take over at the :55 second mark and then watch Boychuck with his finger up his ass on the winning goal.

Stan did an excellent job of rebuilding after losing many of the 2010 players.

Same; office is on the route.  A declared Blackhawk's gear day here.  I will be sporting the only team jersey that I own (lots of MU clothing, but no jersey; outside of professional hockey, not a believer in the "adult jersey"), a red Hjalmarsson sweater.  Lloyd jr heading to the rally.  Scheduled his summer job work hours around it- the life of an 18 year old.

I know that Dale Tallon has gotten a lot of praise for the 2010 team, but he set up a complete financial disaster if the Hawks did not win the cup. As for Bowman, he did a great job of clearing cap space by saying goodbye some players. Personally, I was sad to see Versteeg and Ladd traded, but Bowman's fingerprints on the '13 team show that his moves have worked.

I also own a Hjalmarsson jersey. You are the first person I've ever met, online or otherwise, who also owns one.

You guys must love the slowest skater on the team.  Just kidding, Niklas is a fine D-Man.

Got it at a game last year.  Lover the way he plays, and didn't want to be another Kane or Toews guy (and they weren't yet selling the one I really wanted--Shawzie).

Rent-a-player.  But he was right in front of the net on the 1st goal in game 2.

I got mine the year after the 2010 cup, right when he signed a 4 year deal. I wanted someone who would be on the team a while, but not the typical Kane, Toews or Hossa that everyone has. Thought about Duncan Keith too. Ended up with Hammer because I love how hard he hits.

The guy avoids hits more than a blackjack player holding 17.

My thought process was the same, and I admit to getting a bit worried when the trade rumors started after the season...

I want a Hammer jersey, never pulled the trigger yet. Maybe a Stanley Cup version.

You just get so much for your money with it.
