Just saw this...only been in the Hangin' thread of late.

Quite simply, if you follow this team, you know that freshmen getting time is something that doesn't happen very much. At Marquette, you get what you earn. That includes everything from your practice gear to in-game minutes. What on earth have either of them done to earn time over guys that are more established? And it can't be anything they did in their YouTube videos.

Who is Ferguson realistically going to take time from? Certainly not Blue or Lockett, those two are the guys we count on most for defense and minutes at the wing positions. Blue has been our leading scorer and Lockett has been a fantastic rebounder. Ferguson couldn't carry either of their jocks right now. Jake Thomas or Mayo? Jake's minutes are shrinking and Mayo's are going up, and Jake has a year of experience in the system on Ferguson regarding defense. Who else? Jamil or Juan? Right now, Ferguson is where they were 1-2 years ago. Not ready.

I'm curious, which appearance convinced you he's ready? His titanic 4 points against Mississippi State or UMBC? Or how he lit it up against Colgate? All of those are sub-200 teams. They are bad. Very bad. He put up mediocre numbers against bad teams. And suddenly he's the answer in Big East play, where even DePaul is better than any team Ferguson has scored a basket against?

If we see Ferguson again this year, it will be under one of three circumstances. First, we are blowing the doors off someone and he is playing during garbage time. Second, we are getting killed with no chance of coming back and he is playing during garbage time. Third, we are so depleted by injuries that we go to the 12th man on the bench. With that in mind, I'd be fine with not seeing him again all year, because 2 of the 3 scenarios under which he plays are bad.

Once again you rag on freshmen because they have no experience and aren't ready, but are ok with j Wilson, who shows none of his maturity or big game potential like he showed in Green Bay, like in Hawaii, etc. People say we are deep but how deep can we be if our 10th and 11th player are not conditioned to play mentally. You only get mental toughness through game experience. The physical aspect is there. 4 to 5 meaningful mins per game will not hurt the team, and will build mental toughness making us a truly deep team. But if you like the way it is, I love it. I'll never convince you Brother!
