Taylor and Ferguson

I think Steve Taylor Jr and Jamal Ferguson should get more playing time in place of Jake Thomas and Lockett. It seemsto to methe they're threats not being utilized because they're freshmen.

Buzz's teams have not had a habit of playing freshman until they have demonstrated that they have the know-how to handle themselves on the defensive end.  While I agree that Taylor especially has earned some extra minutes with the way he's played on the offensive end, until they prove to buzz that they know what they are doing on defense I wouldn't expect to see them much.

That's nice. But they won't. Neither is ready to compete game in and game out at this level, certainly not Ferguson. Taylor is fine taking minutes if both Juan and Jamil are in foul trouble, but he isn't ready for 15+ mpg like many seem to hope. And certainly not ahead of Trent, who may not be giving what we hoped for offensively but has been very good in the other aspects of the game.

If Ferguson had shown a grasp of the defense and shown an ability to be a 40% 3 pt shooter, he would be getting more minutes.    If Taylor had shown that he grasped the defense and brought it hard every practice, he would be getting more minutes.     They both are very talented.    But defense earns you minutes.

Jake Thomas has played 10 minutes in the last 3 games combined, and those are not going to increase. He doesn't have minutes to give up because he can't play. He's about the 11th player in a 9 man rotation. Taylor will almost assuredly get more minutes than Thomas the rest of the season.

So you're saying Lockett doesn't deserve the playing time he gets. He is not the Lockett of Arizona State. He's averaging 5 points and 5 rebounds in 25+ mins. Ferguson averaged 4 points and 2 rebounds when playing over 5 mins but nowhere near 20+ mins. And he played the passing lanes to produce steals. DO THE MATH. Taylor rebounds offensively and plays under control. I think they should get more meaningful minutes like Jake Thomas. How is it acceptable for upperclassmen to play mediocre like Jamil Wilson,  but a sin for underclassmen???  IM CALLING EVERYBODY OUT!! M U CAN BE BETTER. PLAY ALL THEIR TALENT! Why do you have to shorten the roster for the regular conference play when you have the talent?

The argument both for and against Steve Taylor Jr is the same one we heard about Gardner two years ago. The stats really like him. He's the second most efficient offensive player on the team, although it's in limited minutes. In fact, despite his limited minutes, Taylor is the fifth most productive player on the team (Gardner, Jamil, Junior, Blue)

How can one be called a productive player when you only show up playing mediocre teams. The team needs Jamil scoring as well as his leadership in everythe game. Not those ticky tack fouls he keep committing. You can't play 19the mins.,  take no shots, and have 4 fouls. Jamil needs to turn on his killer instinct every game to be considered a productive player. Derrick Wilson is way more productive as well as Anderson. Blue needs to show up in second halves. I think Ferguson can join Cadougan in attacking the basket (UNDER CONTROL) after watching his youtube videos. I wish I could see them practice,  but I'm in Texas.

Does TV take a week to get down to Texas?  Because Lockett and Jamil are coming off their best two games of the year.  And while I am sure Steve Taylor will get minutes when his skill set is called for, Ferguson should only see mop up time from here on out.

I'm I the only fan living in realville. Their best games, give me a break. If that's their best then you're proving my point. And there is NO consistency. From the little time Ferguson received, he's been productive in points, rebounds, and steals. All I'm saying is the 4-5 mins. Jake Thomas sees in the first half, give them to Ferguson and see if there's a difference in production because Thomas hasn't defended or scored to the point of deserving time. Just being truthful!!!

I thought we'd been over the whole YouTube highlight reel thing. Given that Ferguson is a freshman and there are several players ahead of him on the depth chart he won't see much time. Hopefully he can put some weight on his frame and compete everyday in practice this year, but given his minutes thus far prior to big east play he may not see the floor.

Trust in Buzz.  If you look at playing time for freshman under Buzz they don't get much time, with the exception of one or two players.

However, our team is now deeper at the wing that we have been in years.  It's may not be that Ferguson isn't ready to play it may be that there are currently better options.
