Guy played a hell of a game, was impressed with his offense he showed last night.

Do you think Autry would prefer to play Steve more, or did Buzz give Autry the "green light" prior to the game starting?  I never saw Buzz play Steve that much and yes i'm aware of the foul problems, but Steve seemed to be in there during key points of the game, i was pleasently surprised.

Great job steve, hope to see more in the future.

Steve's been very impressive in my humble opinion.  Been a while since I felt like we had a frontcourt player that has played that well as a freshman.

In keeping with the way Marquette does things, I am guessing that Taylor Jr., played more because he earned it in practice and because he was a contributory presence on the floor last night.

I don't think there's an iota's difference between Buzz and any of his assistants on this matter.

I like Steve too but it hasn't been that long - Ox wasn't bad as a frosh.

CAGASS24

He's close, but I don't think he'll surpass Davante's line from his freshman year, and that was with some time missed with injury.

YES! I can't believe nobody else mentioned this (That I've seen). Steve had a great game. He was a spark coming off the bench. With his size and athleticism I'd be surprised if he doesn't continue to get more minutes.

Marqevans

He must be really uping the play of everyone in practice.

I know this is a little off topic, but does anyone know why the name on the back of his uni says "S. Taylor" when he is the only Taylor on the team?  Is it because of T.J.?
Have some patience, FFS.

Groin_pull

I was thrilled when MU signed him, and nothing has happened to change my mind. He's a good one.

I've wondered that too. I assume that all of the jerseys were ready to go before T.J. bolted.

I never understood the first initial on the jersey anyway. Doesn't the number give away which player it is?

Not if you don't have easy access to the roster - such as if you are watching on TV.  It will be interesting to see exactly what they do next year when they will have 2 D. Wilsons on the team.

Beat me to it.  He played great and shows some great flashes of being
THE FUTURE!!

He was also in at crunch time vs NCC Saturday.

He has earned the minutes and it helped to motivate Jamil the final minutes of the game.  Before Jamil checked in the game for the final time Autry grabbed him and talked to him for a while.  That seemed to really light a spark under him.  Jamil came in and attacked the basket on a drive for the first time in a long time.

Was interesting that when Ellis asked Autry who his "key guy" was after the game with Cadougan being the obvious answer, he threw a Buzz-esque curveball and started raving about Taylor.  One things for sure, he can't be getting the "before a media timeout garbage minutes" he had been getting against quality competition or in close games (1 vs. USC, 3 vs. UW, 3 @ GB,  2 vs. LSU); he's too good for that.

Stretchdeltsig

Agree that Steve is the "real deal."  Very mature for a freshman, just like Mayo last year.  He plays "big.  Wonder why he was billed as 6'8" in high school and now he's listed at 6'7"?  In the huddle he looks as tall as Gardner.

Coach Autry said something along the lines of, "He wants to play 40 minutes a game, but I told him whatever you can give for the the time you are out there will help this team."

Big Papi

He played more because Jamil Wilson and Juan Anderson were in foul trouble in the first half.  His good play allowed him to play some minutes in the second half.

T-Bone

I like him.  I think he'll be a really nice player for Marquette this season and beyond.

The one thing that still gets him off the floor is defensive awareness.  He had one glaring instance of being out of position that left UConn open down low for a dunk.
However as his time on the floor as increased, these miscues are becoming fewer and fewer.  He's buying in, and getting it.
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

jsglow

I think one advantage that Steve has is that he's played hoops against this kind of talent before.  Practice at Simeon every day.

I'll expect him to continue to grow in Buzz' system this year and be an absolute monster next year.

What defines a monster in your book?

The kid looks like a baller to me. Excited to watch him play bigger role in upcoming games. The kid looks ready to me.

He might be gone in 2 years if he starts playing big minutes.

Epic.

A player goes from getting spot minutes to a prediction of him leaving early for the NBA.

I love the interwebs.
