Ordinarily, I would be thinking that neither of these two top 25 teams are that great and that MU can take them.   This year, though the raw ability is there, I recognize that if MU doesn't collectively metaphorically remove its cranium from its rectum, we are going to lose to both of these teams.

I get that.   Throw in some Jesus and bad jokes...

Great insight, captain.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Both these teams would shut down MU right now. Just look how active and strong there bigs play.
Otule and JWill don't play strong enough to stay with these teams.

Dr. Blackheart

Dixon playing some zone too..with his bigs MU will struggle. MU can't beat either on the road right now.

And these teams aren't overly impressive which should tell you both the state of the game this season and just where Marquette resides in its hierarchy.

What is it about college hoops this year that makes you think it is SO much worse than previous years....this is now the second post you've made to this effect...I don't get how you can quantify the quality of college hoop year to year across the board as of January 1st...?
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

I don't know about that, I'm watching MSU-Minn game and they are both really good.

It is funny, I have been to two Gopher home games this year, and I thought they looked meh in both.

I have also watched MSU on tv several times and felt the same way.

No great teams this year. Maybe a few really good teams (Duke, Michigan, Louisville, Florida), and a bunch of pretty good teams.

No dominant team. Not even a team that looks like it could be dominant. Will be one of those years we have six or seven top-ranked schools. Intelligence level is down. Plenty of teams have shown incredibly poor basketball management. Individual talent pool at top is weaker. Look at All-American lists. Wholly underwhelming play relative to their selections.

Look at the Big East where we have two top level squads, three pretty good squads, and then everyone else either mediocre or poor. That hasn't been seen in this incarnation of the conference, even on January 1. Plenty of poor, poor losses for the conference.

Is this quantifiable? No, of course not. But what you've seen, and what you will see, are matches that mostly fail to entice but when they do excite it will be down to an equality of mediocrity rather than watching exhibitions of high quality talented teams. Like the NFL.

Hopefully, MU will rise to a level of mediocrity that will allow us to be ranked 14th or 24th.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Which is very possible. In fact, wouldn't be shocked to see MU ranked at some point this season.
