I cannot wait to see Trend get in the open court and just take off...I am waiting for it.

He is sensational, most electric player on the team... what a call by TC not red-shirting him.  Fits in much better then Stemler would have. (even though Stemler averages 11 a game at Indiana)

Desert_Eagle

T-REX!!!!

He's going to have a huge dunk over Josh McRoberts and I'm going to go crazy.

Fun player who will add energy and contribute but hardly "sensational."  I'd still take Stemler who  is 12-24 from 3-point land at the present time.  You don't think that would have fit in?  Have you seen what our biggest problem has been thus far this year?  Love watchiung Blackledge but we need a pure shooter!

ZiggysFryBoy

not sure if I'd call Trend "T-rex."  T-rex had very short arms, and Trend is the complete opposite!

HoopDreams

True about the short arms..however, he looks and runs like a dinosaur. He has also has the ferocity of the T-rex..if you saw the alley-oop against Detroit you know what I am talking about...

Another Trend highlight was upon his strong finish in the E. Michigan game he stuck his tongue out to the crowd..I love the guy's energy.

WashDCWarrior

One of the most athletic players at that height I've seen at Marquette.  Looks like he's on the verge of becoming the go-to big man.

IAmMarquette

I read somewhere (I think it was on this board, actually) that Lawrence no longer wants to be known as 'Trend.' Can anybody verify this, or did I just make that up?

WashDCWarrior

I saw that too.

I think Crean said it in a post-game interview.

I know that they have mentioned it several time on the radio broadcasts.  The first time they mentioned it, they said that he told them that friends call him Trend, but he prefers if people who don't know him (including the media) call him Lawrence.  The next time they mentioned it, they just said that he wants to be called Lawrence.  They didn't give a lot of details, but I kind of got the sense that it was (is) a nickname that was (is) used by a close circle of friends, that got picked up by the media and then the rest of the world.  It was pretty clear from Homer/Mac's comments that he'd prefer to be called Lawrence by everyone but his close friends.  A shame, too -- Trend is a cool nickname.

When was the last time Marquette fans got to witness a half court alley oop??? Not only is he an entertainer on the court with his big plays, but he brings some amazing energy off the bench. This team thrives on energy (case and point: Didnt score for five minutes until a Jerel tomahawk dunk in the EM game, then we scored 93 following that). Lawrence, Trend, Blackledge...WHATEVER. I'll stick with T-REX!

the only half court alley-oop that i remember (or sort of remember because of too many budweisers) was wade at depaul like 4 years ago.  i am not sure when it was but it was crazy.  it was the same day that the bears lost to the eagles in the playoffs.  god knows the last one before that (it sure wasn't from wardle or polonowski)

I'm loving him. After the TT game, I'm positive that the only way Blackledge can score is via alleyoop or offensive dunk! His put back in the TT game was nothing short of spectacular. His awareness of where the ball is on the court is impressive. He almost recorded a block in the game had Fitz not fouled milliseconds prior. O well. I'm sure he'll have another opportunity against McRoberts! And yes...i believe that his "invisibility cloak" when he turns sideways actually benefits him. It allows him to slip in undetected for back door slams!

Oh, come on!!

MU needs a true shooter and Stemler would have given them that.  Trend, or whatever you want to call him, has range of about 6 inches.

But if you want a spectacular dunk and don't care about any other aspect of the game, then he's the guy for you.
