Unbelievable!
« on: July 29, 2007, 08:29:48 AM »
Article in this morning's Milw J/S states that Moveon.org -----in coordination with other liberal/leftist organizations are searching out the Fox News channels advertisers and asking them to stop advertising on Fox. They are upset with the fact that Fox advertises it self as "fair and balanced".

Article quotes a Home Depot spokesman as saying they don't plan on changing their adverising schedule.

I suppose what's next is to organize liberal/lefties nationwide to boycott Fox's advertisers!

I watch Fox regularily and though their their commentary panels (e.g. "Fox All Stars") are predominatly made up of conservatives there is always the liberal point of view included (Juan Williams)----Brit Hume is decidedly conservative but Chris Wallace who moderates Fox's Sunday talk show is middle of the road (asks the tough questions of everyone). When it comes to the presentation of the news itself they tell it the way it is. Fox will emphasize some news stories that you won't see on the major networks, but IMO that's a public service (why should we be left in the dark?)----e.g they will give some positive features on Iraq.

Ha Murf, it's not all that unbelievable is it?  I mean liberals think they are entitled to everything and they try to get rid of anything that gets in their way or points out the frauds that they are by raising a big fuss over it.

I love Fox News Channel.  It always does have the liberal viewpoint as well...such as Hannity and Colmes.  If you listen to Hannitys radio show then watch Hannity and Colmes, it's evident that Sean takes his conservativism down several notches on tv.

Asking advertisers to stop advertising on a show is a long standing conservative ploy, as well as boycotts of corporations.  Rikolta (?) vs Married with children.  Moral majority vs. Disney.   Christian groups vs. Ford because they marketed Volvo's to gays.  Boycotts of Procter and Gamble because the 100+ year old logo is suddenly satanic.  Why should concerned citizens on the left be denied the right to make a request of advertisers to stop advertising on shows they find offensive?    It won't accomplish anything.   But please view it in the context of them co-opting a long established, yet fruitless ploy of the conservatives.

Well there are always some nuts who want to boycott this or that------but lets keep on apples and apples here-----when has a conservative gone after the advertisers of NBC, ABC, CBS, Washington Post, NYT, LA Times------when? where?

Let's look at the "liberals' effort" to organize as "lobbying": creating liaisons (organizational heads) who will influence companies.

That's no different from businesses "influencing laws".

In fact, in the end, both "forms" of "lobbying" are just ways to influence policy.

So there...that doesn't sound so bad, does it?
