This is why the ACC is drawing a line in the sand regarding Maryland paying the entire 52 million dollar exit fee.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Since I only care about basketball, the ACC losing GTech and adding UConn is a major win in my book. And a major loss for the BE. Wonder who Aresco will replace them with? Fairfield?

GGGG

Apparently the reason this isn't public now is because Georgia Tech is playing in the ACCCG tomorrow.

Good. Let's wrap up this b.s. sooner, rather than later. The faster this plays out, the faster MU and the other hoops schools can begin building their own conference.

"We are committed to the future growth and expansion of the Big East Conference. All of our members remain committed." There, I said it for him this time. It's getting kind of old though and becoming a joke.

Hope they win and this is true.

If GT goes, who is the 16th Big 10 team??

Well, depending on what twitter "source" you use....

1. Virginia Tech was also invited, OR
2. UNC, ND, UVa and Kansas were also being vetted

UNC, UVA, BC...but some are pointing to this being the last shot at ND.

Though, who says they stop at 16?

Am I the only one that is happy to see this? I really hope its UNC. I think that would make the biggest splash. (Other than ND but I don't see them joining the B1G)

As long as it finally kills Big East football, I'm for it.

+1.

GT and UNC to B10...UConn and UC to ACC....Big East drops football.

Aughnanure

By the way, UVA is apparently worried about the fiscal cliff. Those B1G pastures may be starting to look very nice.

Then FSU and one other to SEC and the ACC moves down a big notch if NCAAFB.

Thanks. I guess a last ditch effort to swing ND or adding VT would make sense.

I know that this conference shuffling is about the dollars, but I laugh at how the Big 10 is watering down their own conference. Rutgers, Maryland and now GT, that's some average football, to add to a conference already filled with mediocrity.

Of the three, GT has at least been relevant on the national stage, but they have lacked consistency.

Going with VT as the favorite to be #16.  If the ACC loses two and adds UConn and UC, let's see how long before the Big 12 answers FSU and Clemson's begging.  Then we'll really have some fireworks.

I think they would want UVA more. But also, stop this type of logic:

if A: The teams that are good now will be good in perpetuity, and the teams that are bad will be bad in perpetuity.
and B: Maryland is bad a football
then C: Maryland will be bad at football in perpetuity.

In reality, for all but about 10 teams - college football is a constantly changing and inconsistent competitive landscape.

If that happens, I could then see the Big XII grab Louisville and Pittsburgh back, and then go west for BYU and Boise st for 16...unless they think they can get UNC and Duke (which I doubt). Would've thought the Big XII would've tried to grab the 4 southern ACC schools, but the B1G is more desirable.

If 2 ACC go to Big 10 and then 2 depart for somewhere else it'll be interesting to see what the ACC does at that point.  Will there be more former Big East schools in the ACC than ACC schools when thsi is done?

LAZER

It almost seems like at the end of the day the ACC will implode and the Big East of 2005 might be reform.

And it would be awesome if we could miraculously get an invite because that's essentially the conference we joined (sans Duke).
