Juan. Monster on the boards when he was in the game. High energy player that manufactures his own points.

Anderson...hopefully today was the start of a breakout year for him.

lab_warrior

Jamil.

But Juan certainly served some notice to his doubters on this board today.

chapman

Going with Anderson with a slight edge over Davante.   A very pleasant surprise to see his improvement even after missing time with the surgery.

mubb34

Juan, BUT Lockett is going to be a great asset to this team. 5 steals and 7 board for the fella.

muarmy81

Juan played great but my money would be on either big fella, Chris or devante.

onepost

Jamil - awesome seeing him play his natural position and not being forced to play the 5. Good looking shot. Drives to hole with a purpose.

brewcity77

Juan deserves it. He was excellent in the second half, his energy is off the charts, very active on the boards, drained the three, the block, he just seemed to be on.

Honorable mention goes to the student section. While I haven't been a fan of aping "We believe" from USU, the student section was well-coordinated and I feel actually had an impact on the game. Colgate shot 6/6 from the free throw line in the first half. When they faced the students, who did a number of different "perspective altering" movements rather than the usual waving and shouting, Colgate shot 6/12. The "Blue/Gold" chant was also a nice addition. A lot less "We Are Marquette", the guys at the start talked about how they wanted that chant to be for special moments. I only recall hearing it at the very end when the win was assured. I think we could use it a bit more, maybe 2-3 times per game, but all in all, great, great work by a student section that, at least tonight, actually looked the part of "best in the country".

Juan or jamil. Otule honorable mention.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Agree with Brew .. student section was impressive.  Keep it going.

I think this is a case of better player or more impressive contribution. I think JWilson was the stud of the game but he played as you would expect. Juan played way above expectations but overall I think JWilson just was the most valuable.

Student Section was even able to keep the slow clap for a few minutes without out it completely falling apart. The Blue/Gold chant was great.

Hard to go wrong with either Jamil or Juan.

I'm saying Juan because of the incredible energy he brought and the way he returned from what appeared at the time to be a scary shoulder injury.

Jamil.

But I was real happy to see Juan play so impactfully.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

+1.  Juan was great, but Jamil is the best player on the team.

I have a feeling these are going to be a lot less clear cut selections than last year.

That said... Jamil.

Davante.  The points in the paint numbers were rediculous, and I think that effort he gives on the offensive glass really wears down opposing frontcourts in a way that we don't always give him credit for.

Jamil will have some beastly games and we'll know when to dub him SOG... he is so talented that today's game only deserves a "meh" ... he was the most talented player on the team last year, just didn't have the opportunities to display his skill as it was Jae&DJO's team.  just wait

Jamil or Juan Anderson.

+1.  At the very least, Juan is on the watch list to win a few SOTG awards this year.  Mark my words, he will win us a game this year.

Juan, simply because it was so unexpected.

Jamil with a 176 Offensive Rating.

Daniel

I'd have to say Jamil as he played a solid game, but Juan would be just about tied for it - I enjoyed his aggressive play.

My vote also goes to the student section.  Kudos to the brilliant kids that conceived the Blue and Gold paper for the traditional 'ticket tear'.  As I learned from my son, underclassmen were handed Gold papers that contained detailed instructions on the cheers, etc.  The very last instruction was to tear the paper up once you had learned everything.  Upperclassmen were give Blue paper that had stuff appropriate for them.  Some outstanding new stuff along with several of the old traditionals.  And today's version of Thunder Struck went on a good long time with the students doing their traditional arm wave clap all the way to the upper deck.  Very impressive ladies and gentlemen.  Keep up the good work!
