Now you know. Was told yesterday he was suspended. He doesn't show up to class.

are you saying he doesn't show up to class after being suspended...or he's suspended because he fails his classes due to not even showing up for class?

With Buzz (and LW), I'm sure that getting passing grades may not be enough to avoid suspension, if you're missing classes while getting them.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I think there is only one way the NCAA would declare him academically ineligible at this point. That would be that he dropped classes, which results in him being below the minimum amount of required credits. I do not think NCAA looks at mid-term grades.

I spaced out on it being an NCAA thing when I posted.  It being a credits problem makes sense.  If that's the case, I guess he's counting on taking one of those intensive courses during the semester break, if he's planning on being eligible for the second semester.

i get what you're saying, but there is a big difference between a kid who goes to class everyday, takes advantage of the academic support, and still can't pass a test...vs. a kid who skips class and thus fails classes or is labeled academically ineligible.  maybe that's not a topic for a public message board, but the initial post made it sound like he just hasn't been showing up to classes...

No one has said this is a NCAA issue.  This is a MU issue! He is not going to classes and study hall.  Therefore, he won't be playing or practicing with the team.

Let's agree on this, the NCAA did not suspend Mayo and here is the official...
"Sophomore   guard Todd Mayo has rendered himself academically ineligible, head coach Buzz Williams announced.

Mayo is unable to practice or play, indefinitely.

"Todd understands success in our program requires a sincere commitment to excellence on and off the floor. I'm extremely disappointed he's put himself in this position, but he has the full support of our program as he works to improve," said Williams."

No mention of a violation of NCAA rules.

The injury he has is self-inflicted.

He does not meet the NCAA's standards to participate as a student athlete this semester.

I won't agree on that, because it's flat-out wrong. Mayo is suspended due to not meeting NCAA requirements. That's not really a debated point.

What does this have to do with anything?

It's humor, dude.

Mayo posted a picture on instagram of a kid holding up a "Free Mayo" sign and commented saying "Saw this on Tv during the game. This is Motivation to me and to keep my head high and grind. #LastIGpic (Minor setback for a major come back)".
