I think Butch Lee and Dean Memminger were Top 5 in there year!  Butch might have been #1 guard that year and Dean was 3 time All-State player in New York
City, I think he was first ever to do that.

Great news, Embiid has dropped his list to five!!!

Florida, Texas, Kansas, Marquette and Virginia.

Texas got his first visit, Kansas will have him for midnight madness next weekend, then he goes to Virginia on the weekend of the 19th.  I don't know in which order his Florida and Marquette visits will be, but I like being one of the last two visits.

According to an article on SB Nation's Virginia website, they aren't too confident.

"I'd say Virginia is a long-shot at this point, but if Tony Bennett can wow him when Embiid comes to Charlottesville, anything's possible."

Virginia seems to be only able to sign one more recruit, and they seem to think that the most likely one that they'll get is Schuyler Rimmer, the recent Florida decommit.

So long, Louisville!!!!          UCLA, we hardly knew ya!!!!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Is he definitely going to visit us, now that we know we're on his final five list? I know he was here for an unofficial visit over the summer...

brewcity77

No idea about visits. He has been here and to UF, so he may not need to make those trips.

Also just saw McKay tweet at Embiid to come join him at Marquette to make a Final Four run together. If we can get this kid out recruiting class would be ridiculous.

Is there some connection between McKay and Embiid?

Can you post the tweet?

Daniel

If he makes it through thos eother visits without commiting, I like our chances.  What a great opportunity for Marqeutte, and a great one for Embiid too as McKay could be right - they could make a very very strong run deep into the tourney together.  Go Marquette!

esotericmindguy

How does Marquette have room for him? Does every school over recruit like this? I'm not a fan.

Name one time MU has not had at least one extra scholarship open up (expectedly or unexpectedly) after the season in the last decade plus. Yet you'd rather see Buzz pass on an elite rising 7' talent so that the uppity rubes over at the UW board won't give you any sh*t about oversigning? Give me a break. Go back to your fainting couch.

Lot of anger Jamilman. Roseboro, Barro, Newbill, Durley and soon Dawson if he commits. Not saying he should pass spaz, just don't offer a scholarship to Dawson until you're sure you can't get Embiid. Not sure how you can argue that it's the right thing to do.

Maybe that's just how it is, but doesn't mean I have to like it.

Otule isn't official for next year.  That's how.

That's what I thought.  What if he would, for some reason, not be granted that additional year?

Further... perhaps it is time for Buzz to get another big in-house and not even go after a 6th year for Otule.  I have no objections to the pursuit of Embiid.
Relax. Respect the Process.

BCHoopster

No one likes oversigning but so what, there are alot of players next year that one can leave:

Otule maybe does not want to be at MU for 6 years
Blue I am sure wants to move out and up, he might be dreaming
Wilson will be in school for 5 years maybe he wants to move on

Then there is kids like Burton, does have the grades to get in going to a MPS school, might be
the same case for Duane Wilson

Or maybe Mckay does not get through JC

Jamal Ferguson does not see PT time as quickly as he thought
Derrick Wilson may have the same issue

So that is 8 players, can you see why you keep recruiting?

GoMarquette32

If we sign both Embiid and Jajuan Johnson I would buy final four tickets for next year right now.

I don't know.  I assumed that when he cut his list to five, he did it to setup his five visits.

Another possibility is someone can pay tuition for one year.  Happens at Louisville all the time.

Unfortunately we don't have a surgeon for a player's father like Louisville did.

We do have OJ Mayo's younger brother, however...

I forgot I was up to 8 players that might have a change of address after this year, add a 9th, Mayo!

OJ Mayo isn't used to the idea of a free college education, he's under the assumption that you get paid to attend school.

Otule has to make it through this season healthy to even consider coming back. He has been hurt 3 out of 4 seasons so the odds are against him. When you bring in Burton, Wilson, McKay and Dawson I would not be surprsied if a current player decides to go where there is playing time. There also is a chance that Wilson, Blue or Mayo declare for the draft. Now I said a chance, I did not say it would be smart for any of them to do that. I am sure McKay would love to have Embiid sign, otherwise Mckay will end up playing center as a senior.
