That said, is Buzz's suspension too much or about right given the offense?

Voluntary up to the point that membership is required to have access to significant revenue streams.

Right.  And so are hundreds of other institutions.  You can complain about the NCAA that it wants but it reflects the views of its membership.

For most NCAA members, however, those "significant revenue streams" don't cover athletic department expenses.
Regardless, whatever you think of how the NCAA operates, it's not some tyrannical despotism. It operates entirely on the direction of its members.
