was one bad mf'er. Story goes he held the floor nerd out an 8th floor McCormick window by his ankles just for grins.

have you gotten over that yet, 4ever?   ;D

I will second Wardle being a dick.

Polo was a big partier... but he was hilarious. Never made full use of his talents on the court, but he was hilarious off of it.

I never saw Wardle at any parties, but the dude looks like a stuckup. I thought he always had a girlfriend at MU, but I could be mistaken.

I second Polonowski. That dude was a funny drunk! I crossed his paths a few times.

I must say, the taller bball guys, I really feel sorry for them. They ALWAYS stuck out at parties. As for Hutch and other "normal" ballers (6'3"ish), they sometimes could blend in the crowds.

True story: My now wife had a class with Faisal Abraham while she and I were in the early stages of dating.  My wife like most females at MU at the time thinks Abraham is a hottie.  Faisal leans over and asks her if she'll be honest with him about something.  He tells her he is looking to get into modeling after his basketball career is over and he asks her if she'll look at some of his pictures and tell him what she thinks.  She says sure and proceeds to look through his photos, several of which were him in his "tighty whities."  She turns red in the face and hands back the photos in her best Borat, "Nice, very nice."  She comes home from class and tells me about this.  I was speechless.

Faisal = Smoove B.

.. Who amongst us hasn't given a girl pictures of us in our tighty whities?

Artie Green:  stuck up a gas station in Tosa some time after leaving MU.

Didn't he get arrested while at school too?  Swiping a walk man or stereo or something from a dorm room?

I thought I remember something about Dean Marquardt hurting or injuring someone?

was seriously injured (arm and shoulder) in an auto accident while driving on the west side of MKE. Made a remarkable recovery to continue his career as a Warrior, but really was not nearly as effective as before.l

pretty bad scene in an elevator at Tower...
don't want to guess, but I think potential assault was the issue with a female 'companion'...

got in a barfight with Kerry Trotter once... kinda sorta!

Marquardt, Schlundt and I shared some, ahem, moments, dude.

vaguely remember Shannon Smith had some issues.

Oliver Lee was quite the character.

Florey was a piece of work!

then there was this John Glaser guy........................................................ :o

Wardle was dating a girl on and off during his time at MU. She was a soccer player. Had class with both of them numerous times and were acquaintances. Kept in touch a bit after school when he was still with the program. FYI, he married the same girl.

If we're going dicks at parties we can through DJ on that list too. That kid is an arogant a-hole when it comes to parties. He was hitting on one of my friend and when she told him that she had a boyfriend he said "so, Im Dominic James, im going to be in the NBA baby" she proceeded to throw beer in his face which was entertaining...

I think this sums up why there was a lack of patience with Dominic this year, especially from the students. His off the court persona is far different than the one that goes in front of the media. Travis was similar, but he was cocky without being a complete a-hole.

As far as good guys go, I'll second Jon Harris. I got a chance to work with Jon for a bit the summer he took the GB job, great guy. Townsend is also a good one, but I think the standard is still Steve Novak. Steve, for being a star player, was one of the most humble and down to earth guys on the team.

Odarty Blankson was your classic dummy but he was funny.  Had a speech class with him, and we had to give a persuasive speech.  ODB gets up and starts his speech with, "How many of y'all like getting your jimmy smoked?"  He then proceeded to extol the benefits of oral sex.  Very good class that day. :)

Amal McKaskill... wasn't there some allegations of assualt prior to him leaving.  In addition, he was smoking the chronic.

Yes and yes.

to Odarty. Sure has a way with words, discriptive as all Hell. Would have loved to be a fly on the wall for that class. Just curious, was the prof. male or female and do you know his grade on this speech?

Supposedly James Matthews spit on Novak during practice and that was one of the reasons he ended up leaving Marquette, but this has never been substantiatied and could just be a rumor that floated around.

mu03eng

It was a hot female prof, just graduated college.  She was laughing too, so I'm assuming it was a decent grade.  It all depends on how persuasive he was I guess. ;)

"Getting yo jimmy smoked".........oh man, you guys owe me a new keyboard for that one.

HAhahahahahahahahahahahaha.

By the way, in freshman year we partied with the illustrious Krunti Hester a couple of times.  He was getting his jimmy smoked by one of the resident McCormick groupies who lived on the floor above us.

mu03eng

McCormick always seemed to be filled with groupies.  8th floor of McCormick my freshmen year was that floor, quite the interesting group there.  One girl I know had a "hit list" of the basketball team.  Think she ran through like 6 or 7 of them in '99.  The team really wasn't any good that year so I don't get it. :)

ozmetal71

Women like power and money.  Division One basketball players have the first one, and at a lot of places, let's be honest, the second as well.

Doesn't matter if you are on a bad team, just the fact that you are a D-1 scholarship basketball player at a basketball school means that you are guaranteed lots of jimmy-smoking.

Ah McCormick, what a wonderful dump that place was.  Although, I really didn't miss it when I moved into my triple at East with Air conditioning and my own bathroom.

mu03eng

Oz, you had a Dark Helmet moment there.  "Of course you do! Druish princesses are often attracted to money and power, and I have both, and you *know* it!"

I had the exact same experience with McCormick then East.  Refuse to call that place Straus Tower.

Back to the thread topic, I don't think there have been any really bad illegal type players at Marquette.  I think some morally questionable especially when it comes to the ladies and mary jane.  Maybe ones before my time.  Only one I can think of that was just scary is James Matthews, man that kid had an anger problem.

ozmetal71

Dark Helmet....wow, that brings back memories.

Yeah, MU has been fortunate to have a relatively clean program over the years, and I think that is due to the administrations over the years.  I really doubt that any MU president would tolerate players who commit crimes and misconduct or otherwise damage the university's reputation, and they darn well wouldn't tolerate coaching staffs who do.

I loved the story about DJ getting a beer thrown in his face while trying that lame come-on.  Maybe if he shoots 0-9 next year from 3-point land in a game Crean should throw one in his face as well.

If that story is true, it reinforces what a lot of us thought about the NBA clouding DJ's game this past year.

C'mon DJ, you know you can play better, on and off the court.....

Or maybe it was just an example of a 19-year-old kid trying really hard to get laid.  I'm pretty sure everyone here has said something equally lame at one time (or, in some cases, several times) in an attempt to score off the court. I wouldn't read too much into it.

ozmetal71

Good point, Pakuni.

I've been guilty of really pathetic ones.  Here is one of my worst:

"You're the most beautiful Republican I've ever seen"...said to a College Republican from UW at former Governor Tommy Thompson's birthday party in 1999.

FrennA

Ziggy, we're probably the same year.  I couldn't stand dicky shaw - But of course people at parties knew him!  Everybody knew him.  Name me one other 7 foot jackass that couldn't make a layup after 5 consecutive attempts.  He was pathetic.  I remember his girlfriend as well.  She was hot but a b****.  My brother had class with Dick and met him for the first time as my brother was 2 weeks graduated from Marine Boot Camp.  My brother doesn't have much of a tolerance for a**holes.  Lets just say the rude, classless loud mouth at the back of the classroom didn't say anything for the rest of the semester after being confronted in the middle of class.

Also, my ex was hit on by Crawford after the conference tourney win.  His pick up line?  He informed her of his NBA future.  Maybe she should've went that route.

man, all of those speech teachers were knockouts.  The only class that I ever went to office hours for.  didn't get my jimmy smoked, but hey, I'm no ODB.  :-\

ozmetal71

Wow, I must have missed out, because my speech professor was not attractive at all.

The TA for my section of Intro to Macroeconomics in the spring 2002 semester was hot.  It was fun watching her walk up and down the aisles in the lecture halls in Straz.
