Talk about it in the Message Boards
Back on May 2, four-star shooting guard Iman Shumpert, who was fresh off receiving a Wisconsin offer, told BadgerBlitz.com that the Badgers would not make the cut for his services.

"I called (UW assistant) coach (Howard) Moore as he texted me and instead of texting I just called him. When I talked to him they offered me the scholarship," Shumpert said in the May 2 report. "And they wanted to bring me down there for an unofficial visit so that I could talk to (head) coach Bo Ryan face-to-face. But the update is that (Monday) I talked to him – he had come to an open gym – I had talked to him through a text message and told him it was a little too late and I'm starting to narrow the list down and I wasn't expecting to get an offer, so they are just a little too late. They are not one of my top schools."

Recent Internet reports have suggested otherwise, stating that the Badgers might be back in the favor of Shumpert.

That is not the case, however, as Shumpert indicated differently when this site caught up with him Sunday night.

"At this point Wisconsin is not one of my top schools," he said during a break at Steve Nash's Skill Camp. "Not at this point; I would say that they are about out."

According to Shumpert, he has cut his list of schools, although the list is yet to be made public.

"I have. I just haven't publicized it," Shumpert said. "I'm going to publicize it after I take my Notre Dame visit (which is yet to be scheduled)."

Shumpert has been busy this summer, already visiting the programs of Clemson, Georgia Tech and Illinois. Despite keeping his favorites confidential, Shumpert did indicate that the three aforementioned schools are probably on his list.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Shumpert, who hails from Oak Park, Ill., is ranked the No. 11 shooting guard – No. 41 player overall – in the Class of 2008 according to Rivals.com.

I'm starting to feel that cool front arriving from the West . . .  :D

I think Taylor graduated which would make Trevon Hughes the only PG on the rodents.  Freshman point guard against DJ with a chip on his shoulder (hopefully)  me likey

I fear that's no going to matter when we visit Madison in December. Unless we shoot 70 percent, we will lose. DJ, Jerel and Ooze have already picked up two fouls. We will hit five more field goals and lose due to a 34-13 deficit at the free-throw line.

Ooze just got whistled for his third.   >:(

Luckily, Saunders found Zach Morley's old bong under his chair and has started to "light it up" and hit some 3's.  ;D

Come on, we just entered July and some of you are getting cold feet about beatin up on Bucky?  Do you honestly think a team that lost about 90% of their offense is going to beat a team with 3 starting juniors (who have started since their freshmen years) and a starting senior who has become Robert jacksonish?  Even though UW has their "system" offense and they're playing at home I just don't think we'll loose.

MUCam

I love Ooze...But, Robert Jacksonish? I guess it all depends on how broad you make your "ishes."

Regarding this year's UW matchup, I only have this to say: I so very much dislike Bo Ryan. So very very much.

Ooze is RJaxish?   If Ooze was in a debate his opponent would be saying:

Sir, I served with Robert Jackson: I knew Robert Jackson; Robert Jackson was a friend of mine. Ooze, you're no Robert Jackson.

Ooze + 50 Lbs + Diener's mental toughness = RJax.

No offense but Jackson got to play next to Merritt and Ooze played next to noone even close to Merritt.

Ooze always draws the toughest big man and still has starting stats (8pts/7 reb) similar to Jax (11pts and 6.4 reb).

The diff is not nearly as great as is being claimed and Ooze still has upside.

I should clarify:
I meant that Ooze delivers about Jacksonish numbers roughly 8/7 so its not like having a Greg Clausen where you get 1/.9
Jackson obviously was more of a polished offensive player than ooze but Barro plays adequate defense and delivers nearly a double/double each game...pretty serviceable.

IF (big if) Ooze improves as much this off-season as he did last off season, he is going to be a very good (almost great) player.

Look as his numbers comparing soph to junior season. I admit the guy's game isn't pretty... but he has a great motor and is a pretty naturally gifted athlete (fast, coordinated for his size, jumps well).

He averaged around a block/game last year as well. I wouldn't describe him as a shot blocker, but he defense came a long way last year when we has able to stay out of foul trouble and still hold his own in the post.

I think he could be close to 10pts and 10reb per game... (maybe 11 and 9), and I will take those numbers every time... especially from a guy who doesn't need the ball often to be effective. He shoots a great percentage and isn't the type of player that needs touches to be effective. He can go without the ball all game and still be effective.

I will take the same performance this season as last... but I'm also excited to see if he has another big jump in development, because I think he is capable of being very, very good.

Again, not pretty... but effective and he wears down opposing players because he is always going full speed (sometimes to his own detriment)

I agree with you mualum. I mean considering where Ooze was at coming into Marquette and where he is now, and the rate of his improvement, I'm expecting a big year from Ooze. It seems some others are focused on how much impact the incoming bigs will have, but I think alot of are forgetting how big a role Ooze can/will play this season.

He's a senior, played in all 4 years, has experience vs highly touted bigs (hibbert, gray, mcroberts) and has held his own.

I think he'll be able to contribute Jackson type numbers, if not better, especially if our guards improve their outside shooting consistency. That way teams won't clog the paint and Ooze can do some things.

I'm pretty sure that Bob Jackson put up more like 15 and 8; not 11 and 6

Correct.  11 and 6 were his career numbers, 15.4 and 7.5 were his numbers at MU.
