Everyone is aware of our huge trade deficit with China----but lately the quality of their products has come under quite a bit of scrutiny-----their fish mercury and PCBs, their toys have lead, this morning some of their electronic equipment was found to be of poor quality, and just a few minutes ago, my brand new stapeler broke----you guessed it----it was made in China!

Finally, Murf, we agree on something.

My brother-in-law spends weeks at a time in China for his job, about every other month.

While he understands their explosive growth and inexpensive labor force, his assessment was that they just didn't "get" quality.  They want to get cash, grow, and produce goods at a high rate, regardless of how well made their items are.

I've been to China and other third world countries many times the real problem is that there is a huge disparity between the skill set of the top personnel and the rest of the workers and the corruption also is a problem in regulatory and quality control.  Also if you have an unreliable power grid controlling quality in metals and other products that require consistant power to maintain quality is a huge problem.

This latest tire problem is just the tip of the iceberg

Add tires, toothpaste, and more fish to the list of inferior products from China!

Add everything, remember when a stereo, microwave, coffeemaker, etc used to last until you were sick of it and now they last 2-3 years and crap out.....3rd World quality
