Another example of Crean's recruiting failures

Crean needs to get after these kids sooner, like say around 1st grade.  We can't keep losing the grade schoolers to other colleges.

I mean, how are we supposed to compete in the Big East if we lose the junior high kids?

How is it that this kid is trying to decide whether to go to East Aurora or West Aurora? Whatever school boundary he lives in, that's where he's going to go.

Crean should offer Lebron's and Wade's kids scholly's right now.

According to this morning's Sun-Times, he has family on both sides of town and must decide where he wants to live - which of course will be determined by which school he likes better......

West Aurora has a much better basketball program, so if he's smart he would go there.

Mason, Shawn Pruitt, and lots of other D-1 players have come out of West Aurora the past few years.

His high school decision will be tougher than his college decision.

West Aurora has a great basketball history and has produced a lot of D-1 talent over the years.  However, there have been some recent changes to the coaching staff and long time head coach Gordie Kerkman will probably retire very soon. BIG shoes to fill. West struggled in the DuPage Valley Conference last year.

While not as storied as West, East Aurora has a nice b-ball history as well and has produced a few D-1 players over the years. One recent East graduate, Aaron McGhee?, contributed to Kelvin Sampson's success at OK. Their young head coach has been in place for 6-7 years now ( a problem for them in the past )and they are coming off a sectional final last year with several key players returning.

Both schools have great, old gyms with season ticket holders.  They play in different conferences so the annual cross-town battle is always a big event and I'm sure he is hearing from many people as to where they think he should go.

I don't work for the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and don't even live in Aurora so I guess I got carried away here with information few people care about.  I guess I needed a break from the Barrett trade talk and while I find this subject interesting, it is sad that such young kid will have to deal with this pressure.

But some here would bitch about that too.   ::)

I believe that Crean was the first to offer Jon Scheyer in the summer between 8th and 9th grade after he played in a pickup game on campus with the team - or something like that

Not in today's world would the headline be anything like that. Especially if he went to public schools...there were pregnant girls in 8th grade the past few years in West Bend.  :o
