We are getting 4-5 days of straight rain.  The dam in Red Wing is wide open.  I hear the water is over the top of the dam.

New Cabelas opened up yesterday in our town.  2000 people stood in line for the opening.  One lady camped out overnight in a tent for the opening.

I think I'll stroll over on Saturday and buy me a new bobber.

Probably could have got a better deal on the tent at the new Cabelas.
Buddy is catching tons of smallmouth up to 21" in N. Central Wisco.

For any fly fishermen, the Cascade rivers are at the perfect level and guys are whacking redsides on the lower Deschutes with stonefly nymphs. I finally got into some water recently and it has the makings of an epic season.

Very nice fish.

This time of year, we can toss a bobber off the end of the dock with a crawler on an ultra light and catch some big smallies.  Just a gas on the ultra light.

Some photos from the last two weeks.  Tail end of the steel head run on the St. Joe.  Still running up north in the Manistee, Muskegon, etc.
And some photos of Smallmouth that we have targeted my last two trips, good numbers.  5 or 6 over 4 lbs.
Havent targeted the Walleye at all.  Work and kids, lol.

Is that the Main street bridge in the background?

If so, my grade school was right across the street from where you were fishing.  Back then, all the river had was catfish and carp.  What a change.

Nice pics.

I know Tim.  My guess is he is a relative.  Tim's boy Colie played hoops at Marian with Demetrius Jackson (Notre Dame) and Robert Mischler (Cornell). Very Good team.

I have done my share of fly fishing, but have never really been a huge fan.

If anyone in the Midwest is a big flyfisherman I would suggest my buddy Dustan Harley at Ripple guide service.
He fly fishes the st joe, manistee and Muskegon.  Also guides trips in Montana for a month or two in the summer.  He is simply the best there is.
He is the one in the ripple guide service shirt in the photos i posted and he caught his big smallies on  a fly rod.
He has an awesome website, wether u are a fly fisherman or not i think all fisherman will enjoy his pictures and videos

Tim, or Tom.

There's a sh1t load so Schulteis's in Mish. Tom was in my class at Marian.  He went to St. joes in Mish.  Back in my day, Marian sucked at basketball, but ruled in football. The school was an A sized school, but won state titles in A, AA, and contended in AAA.  We had numerous alum go on to play ball at ND, Purdue, IU, and Alabama. One guy still holds the record for career tackles at Purdue.

Spent some time on the Brule.  A majestic river.  Favorite stretch is from Stone's bridge to Winnibijou Wagon Bridge.  Lots of old growth cedars and white pines.

The mayfly hatch is amazing.  Night fishing for lunker resident brown trout.

Keefe, as much as you like to read, pick up a couple of the books in the Old Duck Hunters series by Gordon MacQuarrie.  You will soon be dreaming of wetting a fly at Wildcat Rapids or Mays Rips.

A little late posting, but spent the Friday before Memorial day weekend pounding the smallmouth on the St. Joe, up in Michigan.  Had a great day including a couple really nice ones on our first few casts while still at the landing, it only got better from there(see second picture).  Havent fished for a week or so.  Kids sports and the T-storms have been frequent.
