Going to Florida one week from today.  Staying between Sarasota and Bradenton...Longboat Key.

Considering this charter company.....

http://www.cortezdeepseafishing.com/

The outfit is Cortez Deep Sea Fishing.  They run a party boat out of Cortez. Does anyone have any experience with this boat?

I've done smaller charters with 4 other outfits over the years.  Curious to try this "format".

Thinking about heading to Red Wing next weekend for their fabled spring bite.  Anyone been there yet?

The picture is my neighbor and his 11 yr old son and their winning fish from this weekend's Full Throtle tournament on pools 3/4/5 on the Mississippi.  The kid caught two 30" walleyes to seal the win.

Anyone get out for the WI opener?

We had 16 inches of ice.  Forgot to bring the auger.

I read that on the J-S site this AM.  Where are you?

Lake Nebagamon....Douglas County.

From a conservation perspective, the only good thing about it is it is tough to spear a walleye through the ice.

GGGG

That water is going to be cold all summer long too.

Just got back from Canada a week ago.  Hard to believe that after such a late ice-out, found water at 68 - 72 degrees.

Got tons of walleyes.  Limits every day.  The largest for the group was 25".  Biggest Nord was 35".  Caught a few muskies too.  Sooooo, no trophies, but tons of fish.

Highlight of the trip was finding jumbo perch.  Had ton of fun one day catching 12-14" perch on an ultra light with 4 pound test.  The bite lasted for hours!

Stone, went out with Wayne one day.  The guy's still a hoot.  When you go up to CPL, ask him about the guys who fed him his first bowl of Real Chili this summer.  That shoud bring a smile to his face!  See the pic of Wayne on the tiller.

Just got out of the three 12-step programs mandatory upon a return from this trip....one program for excess drinking, one for excess eating, and one for excess swearing.

One MU related experience....one of the gals in the cabin below us used to be an assistant coach for MU's womens team in the 90's.  She told me that when she would bring recruits and their parents to the old gym, she would have to apologize in advance for the profanity they were going to be exposed to via Kevin O'Neil.  Said the dude could make a sailor uncomfortable with his brand of profanity.

This lake is near is near Superior.  In the cities, we have a foot of ice.

They had too much snow too early.  It will take some very cold weather for that lake to get good ice.

Killed the small.largemouth bass/crappies/northern on the Wisconsin River this summer.   Best Wisconsin fishing I've ever experienced.

Was looking forward to my first Sheboygan trout charter fishing trip but high winds cancelled the outing.

What general area?

We had a ton of fun with Wayne this year.  Really got into substantial numbers of jumbo perch.

Muscoda, WI.  Kayaked and canoed to a sand bar, camped out there a few days.   The water level was so low there were side ponds/pools with huge fish trapped in them.  Felt like Bill Dance on his private bass ponds meets Tom Hanks in Cast Away.  Filleted up what we caught.  It was an awesome time.

Good to hear.  Jigging I take it?   The family reported the walleye/musky fishing was the best ever during the summer this past summer.   Don't know if you concur.

We went up in early June.  Just before Muskie season technically opens.  I throw a lot of big spoons for Nords. Muskies go after them too  ;D

Walleye limits ever day....and lots of Wayne.

Mostly jigs, with crawlers and minnows.  Cost of minnows is a joke.

Ran into a gal that used to be an assistant coach on the women's tem during O'Neil's tenure.  She could really fish.  Told me that when they would bring in a recruit and family to the old gym, they would have to apologize in advance for what they might overhear from O'Neil.

Does anyone Sturgeon Spear on here? Looks like it is going to be  a good year for good ice!
